Here's my situation. Just built a 6.0. carrillo rods ceramic coated piston tops, custom cam, egr delete, good pushrods , valve springs , 205 injectors , Elite vgt HO turbo, Banks cooler, billet converter, on 37's with 4:88 gears so around a 4:30 final. Got innovative programs. Truck falls on its face in a cloud of black smoke til the turbo catches up and WILL NOT boost launch at all , it pushes through the brakes !! EGT's hit 1600 right away. this is my first big diesel build and have nobody doing the same in my group , all gas fuel drag guys. Any helpful hints or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :fustrate:

Who's tunes?

So if I'm understanding this right... you can't get it to build boost on the line, but it's still pushing through the brakes?

4.88 sounds like a pretty tall gear. I would of stuck with like a 4:10 for those 37's. Most of my buddies who ran 37's ended up going back to 3.73's.

I'm getting upwards of 35+ lbs once he gets going. Its all an "off the line" problem. Out of the hole he just wont light up. If you pin it from a stand still he sits there and billows smoke while he spools then he catches and lights right up. He'll hit 30 lbs then shifts and brings 35 lbs and so on. As for the pushing through the brake , I'm trying to get him to spool and have to 'feather the brake' trying to get a spool going and have to give up and let him roll and it still takes a couple/few valuable seconds to collect himself up and take off. Its like he's buried in fuel and not getting enough air. The turbo just doesnt spool up fast enough to match the fuel he's getting. The stall speed is stock (so 2200?), its just a billet replacement. Used an OBD II reader and the EBP sensor was showing as good based on what I read here about being within 1.5 of MAP and something else I wrote down. Checked boots and no leaks so far. As for the gears , with 37's that gives me like a 4:35.24 final drive ( Ford dragpak almost ,lol ). I'm looking for performance not fuel economy so based on what I should be making HP and torque wise , the gears should be an advantage in getting him moving wouldn't you say ? Gonna have to get in there and check all the piping everywhere again I guess , also I'm not super literate on the tech terms so ..... ICP ?

My truck is doing he exact same thing right now pretty sure the torque converter is my issue. But idk for sure so any info could help me as well. I've noticed it likes to run better with trans temps around 150 or below. Can blister the rear tires from a 40mph roll with cool temps. When they get up around 160 or so can't even spin from a stop. Lets not talk bout building boost while braking. Might see 3lbs ?? Iam at a loss too

Still no word on who's tuning is being used or if the correct tuning is even being used? No idea what ICP is?

Convert stall speeds will change as the truck makes more power too. So a 2200 stall converter on a 300hp truck is not a 2200 stall converter on a 500 or 600 hp truck...
