The rendering looks great. I have wanted to find a RC for awhile. and do something similar but with a 4x4.

Question - Are going to extended the wells in the bed to fit some wider tires or just go with a different offset wheel in the rear for the wider tires?

Thanks guys! It took a while to get it going but she's moving along. Here are some pics of the frame welded back together. The tow hitch made a nice lift point for the floor jack. Front has been dropped 3" with DJM Dream Beams. Will probably massage the stance a bit once it's rolling on the right wheels/tires.

Both actually! The wheel wells will be cut/widened and the bed floor extended inward just beyond the leaf springs for inner clearance. The wheels in the rendering are based on the Incubus Nemesis 8's but I am talking with a local wheel company now who can make me a custom set of rims that will be similar in design to the Nemesis but forged with custom offsets and fat lips. Want the maximum amount of tire under this thing.

From your rendering it looks like a 22x12 with a 325mm width nitto 420 should be wide enough. I have 305 nitto 420's and they just about 1' wide. Quite a bit of contact area.

My brother has a 2005 SCSB, and he welded the frame like this build, but then welded a square plate over the whole joint as well. If I had a setup like that, I wouldn't worry about it in the slightest. It's not like the frame is getting any smaller or thinner because of it...as long as you can do an excellent weld it should be just as strong as when it started. Just my .02 though...

Makes sense thanks. I'm thinking about doing it on my race/street truck just gun shy about it. It would suck to launch at the track and break the frame in half lol

The front spring hanger will be welded right over the joint and bolted on either side. Then the frame will be boxed inside spanning the joint. That area will be as strong or stronger than an uncut section of frame. But I see your concern, nevertheless.

Shooting for 625-650whp on fuel and 700+ on spray. Mild motor build, all things considered.

Don't think I will get a 12 under the rear but haven't done final measuring yet. Thinking 10.5 right now because I'm tucking them. Staying with 20" wheels because I want a decent sidewall on the tire.

the offset will also determine if you will be able to tuck tire. yah I hear ya, I thought about it, but my 22's with 305/45/22 nitto 420's have enough sidewall for me, and I do some towing, curb climbing very light off road use, should be at the drag strip this summer hopefully...ordering pistons and other parts this month so it should be around 700 sometime in june if I keep up the pace.
