Does anyone know if Riff Raff's engine rebuild kit is a Ford kit, or did they put all the parts together? Seems like a descent price...

I'd run the PMR's til they sh!t the bed and build the other motor as your budget allows and have a ready spare. Who are you planning on using for tuning? That will probably be the deciding factor between living and dying, regardless of rods. I would suggest Matt@Gearhead.

I hope you enjoy your Gearhead tunes as much as I have. Absolutely stock belwo 50%TP but hold on over that. If anyone can keep your PMR's alive, Matt can.

I really liked my Bean's live tunes and would've kept them if Matt would've been able to tune the sniper chip I got from David. Jon had m,y truck running STRONG, but had the touchy throttle I really don't like. I still might get them back if Jon has the tunes stashed somewhere.

Yes actually it is. I'm getting it cheap... As in DIRT cheap. It's getting rebuilt and I should have it in a week. I've heard both good and bad, and honestly for the price I'm getting it for its worth a shot.

Good luck with that. If you can't afford to do it right the 1st time...you know the rest.

Beans are great compared to my superchip I had.. touchy throttle makes it hell to drive in the snow.. not much feather. And its smoky as hell. Idles rough and shifts are inconsistent... And I hear he is pmr god...which is 99% of the reason for the swap

I had a lot of problems with Jon's tunes til I had him live tune it. Once that happened, they were great. Smokey and touchy, but very strong. I much prefer Matt's for any kind of DD. I think you'll be pleasently surprised by Matt's tunes. I lose 50-75 rwhp with his tunes, but that was by request. I asked him to be conservative.

mine was the same until johnathan live tuned it... but my truck only smokes when i want it to.. never had issues with it being to touchy after the live tuning..

littlered, why not just have johnathan adjust your tunes?

much like the OP, i picked up a drop in E99 motor with supposibly 170K miles on it from a forum member. i'm tearing mine down to send of to machine shop for full inspection and a slight hone job. definately going to be atleast a 3year job before i can afford to put it all back together and drop in.
Jonathon has my vote for live tunes when the time comes. going for a 550 hp dd/work stock truck

Well picked up a motor that was running with 200k, pulled the heads and the valves are wore down to nothing. I know its not right way to do it but I'm wanting to get something running now for my red truck. I'm gonna pull the heads off the red truck with the blown pmr motor and hope no damage occurred when the rod went loose , and put them on here for now . 004 wear on cylinder walls. I know on most gassers 0.010 is about max before needing punched . In just gonna close ny eyes, swap heads and get it running for now.
