I have had a 30" on and off my truck and now on the dually. It still has a throaty sound at the tip, but the truck sounds virtually stock inside! If I ever have a want or need to quite mine down, it will be with the 30" again.

I'll probably go with the 30in. I just rode in a buddies stock 16' it's nice being quiet lol.

My thoughts exactly. I love the quiet. If I get a chance I will hook up a digital manometer to measure before and after differential pressure.

Looking at the inside of them, there is not alot to hurt flow. They have a straight through pipe in the inside (about 2in pipe) with a corkscrew type design for the rest of the exhaust.

Flopro has a good pic of it for their version.

So these FTE resonators seriously dont hurt flow or EGTs?

Not enough to be concerned about. Considering ANYTHING inline will restriction flow. But we are talking a out a truck that had a CAT. D.pee.F. SCR. and muffler inline from theach factory....

Might have to give it a shot. The 4.5 hour drive home from TS made me realize how much drone I had. Just wasnt sure if the FTE would put a damper on the 6870

I personally don't believe it will mathematically. But then again math lies!! LOL.

Your truck would be fine with 3.5" exhaust and a muffler. Restriction is only a concern with diesel heads since 5" exhaust was invented. But the boys pushing 1500hp on a gas engine car with rear exit exhaust and twin turbos don't seem to care... lol

I'm wondering if my Venturi pipe in my down pipe effects airflow enough to kill drone because I don't notice any at all with my 5" Flo Pro...

In the other thread, it seemed that the guys with 13 and 14 model trucks had more issues with drone than the 15+ trucks. Not saying the 15s don't have drone, just not as many complaints as the 13/14 guys.

That's a true statement on the 11-14. However. My main goal is to quiet the truck down overall. It's louder than a 6.0L. I go into old folk neighborhoods where noise like that is not acceptable... LOL. Trying to be respectful to the folks in that community.

Are you guys welding this resonator on or can it be clamped on with the flo pro piping?

I cut a section out of my 5in piping, slid this on, clamped it in. In all of 10 minutes I can change from straight pipe to resonated.

Well... ordered the FTE 30"... there's a perfect 30" piece in the AFE 5" exhaust under the cab it will replace. Looking forward to trying it out.

All I gotta say is the 30" FTE is perfect for me. Theres a perfect 30" piece right under the can in the AFE 5" it took me 5 mins to unbolt and slide it in. So gain in back pressure and no gain in EGTs. Drone is absolutely gone. Like seriously almost stock with the windows up. Still hear the 6870 whistling too but it did tame the high pitch of the whistle a tad. But i dont mind because it was almost obnoxious before.

That's the interesting thing about math/science/engineering.... when people ask "will it increase backpressure" the answer should OBVIOUSLY be yes. It's a restriction in the pipe. Of course anything in the pipe will increase restriction. But does it matter? Almost a definite NO.
