All I gotta say is the 30" FTE is perfect for me. Theres a perfect 30" piece right under the can in the AFE 5" it took me 5 mins to unbolt and slide it in. So gain in back pressure and no gain in EGTs. Drone is absolutely gone. Like seriously almost stock with the windows up. Still hear the 6870 whistling too but it did tame the high pitch of the whistle a tad. But i dont mind because it was almost obnoxious before.

Any vids? Trying to decide between a 17" and 30"...

Do you also have a muffler or just straight piped other than the resonator ? Anyway could get a video outside at idle ?

Straight with just the resonator. Sounds about the same at idle outside. Took the open raspiness away and has a nice smooth rumble at idle now. I'll try to get one tomorrow but mine also sounds much different than most 6.7s with the built motor, cam, and 6870 so its hard to compare exhaust note

I put the 30" on a few weeks ago and it's taken the drone out for sure. However, when I got it I was a bit surprised it was only welded at the ends. This leaves the whole center section to float inside the 5" pipe. I've noticed now I think I can hear and feel it vibrate at low RPMs. Anybody else notice this?

I may have to put a resonator on my truck now since installing the non-vgt, its almost obnoxious empty, haven't pulled the boat yet but I'd say she's gonna be loud.

I had the 17" x 5" on my 06 Dodge that was straight piped. Couldn't stand the drone and put that on and it took the rasp and drone out, but still let you hear the exhaust outside. I then went twin turbos and took it off cuz it was whisper quiet.

Dad then put it on his straight piped and fully ******d 6.0 with a powermax turbo. That thing I think droned worse than the Dodge did. Took ALL of the interior drone out but still really barks when the go peddle is mashed.

Now that I have the 6.7 and its straight piped with the ATS Aurora 4000 turbo, I am debating on putting one on again. Its not bad, just spoiled after buying the truck bone stock and modding it as I go.

Does the 4" vs 5" full exhaust system sound a lot different on the 6.7's? I was thinking maybe do the cat back 5" and keep the stock section of downpipe to help spool the turbo quicker.

huh?! wth does downpipe size have to do with turbo spool? if anything, larger is better because it lets the exhaust get out of there faster!

I could be wrong but I was always told that you'll sacrifice a little bit of top end egt but gain the extra back pressure at lower rpms to help get the turbo spooled quicker. This goes back to the 7.3 days that I was told that.

That's true in naturally aspirated gassers. Less diameter in the exhaust helps low end at the cost of top end. Maybe true in the case of the manifolds and up pipes to keep exhaust velocity higher but for post turbo bigger is better.
