good god man.. no need for caps.. still under the knife.WELL HOW IS IT GOING????
he is narrowing it downDid jimdawg make any progress with the voltage issue?
id cry... a lot.. id rather not.Sucks you still can't figure it out!!! I say burn it down!

jimdawg185 used to be into all that wierd ass stereo/bass competition crap. he knows a thing or two about wiring.. said he had 4 alternators running at once on a vw car of some sort to power his systems.. he also got a schematic from Ohio generator( place he got the alternator) on how they said a 7.3 should be wired so im guessing it will get a makeover in the wiring department.Have him focus on wiring that is not fused, fused poorly, or high amperage fuses. I actually would be worried about it burning if, say, the charge wire is compromised. Tell him to be careful with that alt, you don't want to feed a fire, so to speak. Does he have a dc ammeter? good luck!
lol.. yeah, it has been frustrating.. but its my baby! can only wait it out..I wish you the best, it has been waaaaaaaay to long! I would have been over that truck a while ago.
does it even have the gem module? I thought that was for the chip key crap? 2000 model.. thought that was a 01 and up deal?Went back and reread through about all of it. Man what a mess you went through.
Thought out loud on the voltage issue. Has the GEM and/or fuse box ever been swapped or changed?
what exactly does it do and is there a way to fix it or is it a replace the entire thing type of deal? All 99 up trucks have a GEM. It sits on the back side of the fuse box.
No chips in SD trucks until 08 unless it was a EX. Have Jim investigate the GEM a little harder.
just pulled it out. was warm to the touch and batteries where dead so we hooked it to my 6.7 to jump it.. and jim put his xs powers in it and drove it just a couple days ago... how do you test it?It's the one inside. It can be replaced separately from the fuse box but I usually would replace both to rule out each one.
It controls everything inside. I.e. Like when you turn the truck off but can still roll the windows down before opening door.
For lack of a better term, it sees and translates a lot of voltage to their desired source. When they are having a problem they can do some really, really strange stuff.
