Running speaker wire to front doors help

I'm trying to wire up my door speakers to an amp but unlike my 06, my 2010 doesn't have any room in the door harness. It's a solid plug with no provisions for any wire to run thru. How's everyone wire speakers up on the new trucks? I thought about splicing into the harness in the body but I'm not to fond of this idea. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What's wrong with the stock wire?? Run the wires from the amp back up to the stock wires.

sadly there is not too many options for this work. Are you adding a set of components (2 speakers) or just a single speaker, or does the truck have the premium sound with the tweeter in the sail panel?

Basically what you can do is

1.) Easiest: Just splice near the door and use the factor wire on the door side, short runs should handle the increased power without trouble, but good to just confirm.

2.) Moderate: Drill the molex connectors to make a pass through and maybe use some quick connects on the speaker wire to keep the same serviceability of the factory setup.

3.) Difficult: drill the cab and door and add a second harness pass through with gromets and wire loom make it nice and neat and factory looking.

Run them from your amp up to the back of your radio and connect to the stock wire, call it a day.
I do that on all my installs unless im doing multiple speakers per door.

I've done it this way on every vehicle I have ever wired.

Thanks fellas. Going to the back of the radio to the factory harness is my best bet.

Yep, lots of ways to do it. Depends on what your trying to do. Im pushing over 500 rms to my components up front so the stock wires didn't cut it for me.
Did the work and this is what it looks like.

What component setup are you using that will handle 500w per side? Sounds like my kinda setup!

Hertz mille. Its actually only 325 rms per side and 650 rms total up front. Running 4 ea. of the ml1600's and 2 ea. of the ml280 up front all off of my Audison Voce 5.1k. As great and powerful as they sound, if I turn my bass really way up, it still drowns out my front stage, but I love it.

I can't find any finished pics at the moment but I have a couple I took during the build. The mid and tweet are in the stock door panel/sail pod locations. The extra mids are in speaker pods I built mounted on the lower part of the doors. Nuff about me. Where are your build pics. Would love to see them

I have read that the stock speaker wires are good to 150w. Is that RMS or peak? I will be running a JL 450/4, so I will have exactly 150w RMS. I really like the idea of just connecting up to the factory wires for ease of install, although I am not sure I like the idea of mounting my crossover in the door.

I haven't confirmed that, but I would imagine it would be RMS power, basically the power handling of the wire will be the gauge of the wire and the length of the run, the longer the run the less power it will be capable of handling.

Will your components be handling 150w? That is on the upper end since most setups are in the 100w RMS range. Normally I get concerned running things at their limits, but if you keep the gain down for the speakers handling then I think you would be ok.

I agree with your concern about the crossovers in the doors, but really 90% of them are mounted there for the same reasons you are coming across and for most people there is no problem. But you will run the risk of slamming the doors finding weak solder points and such in the crossovers, but you should be ok.
