i got nothing... hows your idm? push rods in #3 straight as an arrow?

IDM is present and accounted for! No codes!

Sure you got the right injector? I mean, if it is still doing it...

That's a tough one. Good luck.

Positive it's the right injector. Laid on the side of the truck staring at the exhaust while disconnecting number 3. Smoke to no smoke while unplugging it.

The glowplug in that hole dead?

Will test the glow plug here in a little bit. Is there a time limit for how long it should take to be cherry red?
My truck.smoked like.hell when I lost two on the dr side bank.

When that injector got unplugged idle quality changed just a little bit. With 2 disconnected its obvious something is wrong. Everything I've done points to number 3 with my logic.

Truck does not sound like that but smoke is almost that bad!

Glow plug checked good. Took about 5 seconds to turn cherry red.

Can a fuel passage restriction cause said symptoms?

I wouldnt think so, but what the hell do I know, lol. If its smoking, fuel.isnt restricted. Did you pull that injector and have it looked at?

Good luck! Ill keep looking in.

Its a new injector. I called Full Force when this started and within a week I had a new injector! Number 3 cylinder is still smoking. Then I swapped number 1 with 3 and it still smokes from 3. Full Force has probably the best customer service that I have ever dealt with! Same goes to Gearhead and DI! Maybe Full Force will see something with the injector when they get it.

If its one hole, dont you think that hole is bad? Hole in piston, rings are shot?

Does the video posted above with the truck cranking sound like there is a cylinder with low compression ? Also there's no excessive blow by. I sent Dave at DI that video and he said that the motor sounds good. But, I will still do a compression check.

I could be wrong(happened a feeeew times before  ), but pulling one glowplug, or relieveing compression from one cylinder wont just remove the resistance from cranking. Once it warms up there is enough heat to dissipate the smoke and maybe even improve compression.

Check the bottom of the cup for anything foreign, or double stacked coppers. Also, throw a straight edge across the tops of the injectors to make sure they're all at the same height.

Where you goin with that amigo? You thinkin he's got valvetrain issues?

cant find anything else with it... only one of the 8 pushrods i bent made the truck smoke at idle and cleared up after a few seconds on take off.... then at idle again it would smoke... one of the slightest bends in a rod i had also.. had to put two side by side and roll them together on a flat surface to notice it...

Injectors are all the same height. No foreign objects.
Can a deformed or not flat injector cup cause my issue?

have you pulled the push rods out of #3?

Both pushrods are straight.

Buying my last parts for the home made compression tester tomorrow.

The cup can't really get deformed, its supported by the head. I don't think a compression test will show anything, if it's got an even speed when it turns over then compression is fine.

Go ahead and do a compression test.
While you are in there, take a straight edge and lay it across the top of the valve stems as well as the rocker arms where they pivot.
Also, with the engine warm (if possible) try and pivot the rocker arms on cylinder 3 as if the valve were returning to seat i.e. try and force the push rod back into the lifter.
Hate to say it man but I smell valve-train issues.
