I gotta pull wires and shrink wrap the ends, bolt down the amps and rack then clean it all up. It's coming together though.

It's a necessity. Way too many reflections with pillar mounted mids....you either kill them or it sounds like ass.

To kill reflections from the pillar mounted drivers. Same reason I'm taking my leather out and replacing it with cloth.
This will be a full-on sound quality install. A single 10" sub with 10 other drivers around the truck.

Definitely no cracks in the dash. LOL
I have about 20 hours in the pillars alone. Probably another 20 in sound deadening and prep work.
Another days worth to get the other drivers in and door panels finished then I have to build a sub enclosure. I'll build one at about 1.75 cuft sealed then add baffles to shrink it inside to audition first before I build the final version.
I'd say I'll have 60-70 hours in it when it's done.

My bad, for some reason I didn't see the 2nd page. You do really good work Rich, now put it all in that reg cab swb you been dreaming about, :slap:

It's the suede Dash Mat brand
They send about 3' of Velcro...it took right at 30' all over the dash before it laid right.

Got the door pods done....didn't take many pics but I basically just shaped them out of a piece of 3/4" MDF. The door panel is sandwiched between these and the door frame which was built out about 1 1/2" so the mid basses are mounted solid.

It's filthy but it's coming together.

And last night I started on the sub enclosure. 1.6 cu/ft sealed. 1 1/2" front baffle.
This will be the front center console with 5" of the factory console top grafted on to still have OEM looking storage and cup holders.

It is looking really good.

You stated building out the doors 1.5in. Did you add 1.5in of MDF behind the panel or is that total with the baffles? How much MDF did you put behind the door panels?

How flush do the outer baffles sit against the door panels?

I used MDF to build up the door flush with the back of the door panel.
Used foam tape to decouple the panel from the build out then sandwiched the panel between the inner and outer layers of MDF.
I used a 4" grinder with a flapper disc to shape the back of the speaker baffle to match the shapes of the door panel so it fits flush.

Wow! Thats lookin great buddy! I really like the lycra over the pillars.... cool idea. I think you should leave the covers off the pillar speakers! Lol they look really good. Youre definitely devoted. Goin to cloth from leather for a sound enhancing point of view is something that Ive never thought of. I may have some questions for you on upgrading my stuff when Im ready :D

Are you going for Competition SQ or your ear SQ. I competed for several years in the 90's in SQ and hate the way it sounds when its perfectly flat.
