Ok I'm fixing to switch over to a synthetic oil in my 6.0. It's running like arse when cold so I want to go to a lighter weight (5w40). I'm trying to decide what brand to go with and there isn't really much discussion about oil's on there. So, thoughts, experiences, Valvoline Extreme Blue, Shaeffers, Rotella, etc, etc. GO!!

I run the Vavoline Premium Blue Extreme 5w40 in my 7.3. 1, cause I can get it locally. 2, it had the best reviews for a "normal" priced synthetic oil that I can run and pick up down the street. In March Napa always puts it on sale for very reasonable and I buy 3 boxes for 3 changes and it lasts me until the next March when the next sale is.

Sure there may be better ones for around the same price that I could ship in, but I want what I can grab in an emergency and so far all my oas have come back with flying colors saying I could easily go 7500+ between changes with no bypass.

I stick to the 5000 mile change intervals, but its nice to know I could bump it up past that if needed ever.

The syn blue is to hard to find here and it's like $28.00 a gallon at NAPA.. Most guys I know use T-6 because of cost and it's at Wal-Mart anytime you need it.. I personally use T-5 in the colder months..

Most guys swear by the blue but it's to hard to get and costs to much $ IMO.. IMO the T-6 is a good oil.. I do believe there are many here that use T-6 and like it.. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it myself for my 6.0..

I really like ams truck seems to idle smoother with it. I have ran ex blue synthetic too and have no complaints with it, our local autozone carries it too.

If you want more injector stiction run Schaeffers. I have been running Valvoline 5w40 or Rotella 10w30 for awhile now.
