I'm an amsoil dealer...I run amsoil in everything but the motor. Shaffers 9000 keeps mine happy no injector issues and no bypass...yet.

What is the attraction with 'boutique' oils? Im not being a smarta$$ either. I just dont see where something is going to trump the Cummins blue or Mobil 1, truck specific diesel oil. Is it a more cost effective means? More convenient? Do these gourmet oil delivery guys pick up the old oil?

It is more cost effective for me in particular as I can run longer oil change intervals, it is much cheaper than even rotella synthetic in my town by $6 a gallon. The one place in my town is charging $38/gallon for T6 and $40/gallon for Mobil 1. I sell the Schaeffers for $24-$29 a gallon depending on the type.

Closest wally world is a good 35 minutes a way and at less than $24/gallon I will stick with the schaeffers as I am getting awesome results from my oil analysis running extended intervals.

Hmmm? Idk, Mike. I can get Mobil 1 for 29.99/gal anyday. Thats msrp. Oreilly sells it for 19.99/gal about every two months. The cummins/valvoline is 24.99 all day..goes on sale for 18.99.

I know people running extended intervals on both of these aforementioned oils. I personally dont know anybody running anything boutique. I know a couple people who swear by Royal Purple and Amsoil too. Ive used Royal Purple in a couple vehicles and it was unnoteworthy. Amsoil wouldnt go anywhere near my vehicles even if someone paid me. Had a bad experience with it.

I would try Schaeffers but I dont see getting into a bulk buying deal when I can go buy something similar at my own convenience. In several different places.

For me amsoil and shaffers are readily available being a dealer and a friend is a shaffers dealer so we trade products and my costs are low that way. I have run many other oils and I use now what works best for me and my truck. I don't push anything on anyone I just use what works for me.
