Ok now I have a finally question... If you were in my shoes, what turbo would you guys run on stock fuel? S366 fmw, 371 fmw, cast 72... Or any others not listed. Truck is dd, sled pull/drag race on the weekends. I'm anywhere between 0-800 above sea level, most of the time around 100-200ft above sea level. Also a stage one cam
I'm close to pulling the trigger, just getting a turbo the right size for me is holding me back
Dang it. I was set on a 66fmw now I'm thinking 71fmw lol
There is no 66fmw. There is a 67.7fmw and a 71fmw. The 66 we sell is basically the same performing as a fmw but we use an aftermarket billet wheel and a 360 thrust. The fmw only has a 270 thrust. But for the money the 66 is a little more bang for your buck.
Sorry I was thinking 400 series for some reason. But still to my point they will perform the same. The billet wheel we use is much taller than a cast 66. I like having the 360 thrust though.
Sorry to hijack the thread but If I was to purchase a non billet 66 will I be able to upgrade to the billet wheel and 360 thrust at a later date?
Now I imagine that the 360* thrust bearing is more reliable/provide less friction? I maybe way out in left field but that's my take on the difference in thrust bearings, correct?
I agree that mostly failures are associated with over speeding and high pressure ratios taking out the thrust. The fmw has more oil grooves than the standard 270 bearing. But there is no way around the fact that the 360 has 25% more surface area and will handle more stress. Not saying it can't fail. But less likely. As long as it's kept within its safety zone any charger shouldn't have problems.
