Go to the right side of the truck under the hood. To the right top of your A/C fan motor there is a single round plastic connector. Squeeze it and pull it loose. That's goes to the starter. Touch the loose end to your positive terminal on the battery with the key off of course. If the key was on the truck will start.

You can also put a socket and breaker bar on the front of the crankshaft and turn the engine over that way. It's much easier to get the nuts to where you can reach them this way.

Ok, and is it ok to use liquid gasket on between the trans and the transfer case? Can't get a gasket and i need to get it back together today, and what's better, to put the tc in the bell housing and install it or to leave it attached to the motor and install the trans on it? and if any body in the orlando/kissimmee area needs something to do today i could use some help reinstalling this trans

It is IMPOSSIBLE to install the trans on the torque converter when the converter is still bolted to the flex plate. It can't be done.

When installing the converter on the input shaft, use some light grease like Vaseline to get the seals on the shaft to stick down in the groove. This will prevent the torque converter from cutting the seals as it slides over them. With the bellhousing facing up rotate the torque converter until it falls in four times. It needs to be fully engaged and inside the bellhousing or you will riuin the converter and the pump when you bolt the trans to the engine.

Got the transmission in after hours of wrestling with it, now just to put fluid in, how do i make sure i have all the fluid that it needs and do i have to put fluid in the transfer case or is it shared from the transmission?

The transmission holds about 18 quarts if you're filling it dry from a rebuild. Don't put it all in at once, it will run out.

The transfer case is filled separately.

If you plan on doing it ever again get a tranny jack. I did my first without one, took 12 hours . Second one was 8 with t jack third one was 6 hours start to finish. I always throw a socket on the crank

There is a tool out there you can.use on the flywheel to turn the motor over. Used it this weekend, works like a champ

This sounds overly complicated I just use my relay jumper and jump the starter while I'm under there. Anything to do it while um under the truck. Nothing takes longer then up and down in and out while trying to remove the trans.

( would have saved 2 hours if I left transfer case connected but I wanted to clean it up.)

I can have my trans sitting on the ground in 90 minutes. Back together in less time than that (no searching for tools).

Mine is four wheel drive also. All four wheels are in the back though.

Any idea what size socket you need to do it this way?
