Try jumping the starter solenoid?

You either forgot to hook something up or have something hooked up wrong.

i was told from someone or someone i knew that they started it up last year with the trans fully removed just to see it run and shut it off. now that it threw trans codes or not idk.

Well 17 hours later i have a trans bolted in, a gallon of fluid in and a truck that won't start, batteries are good, all it does is click, but the starter doesn't move

Can you turn the engine over with the breaker bar?

Got it, soleniod on the right fender was acting up, runs now, 3 gallons of fluid in, drives and shifts good but is getting hot just idling?

Define "hot" and ambient temp.

Started at 130* drove to work, 150*, idling for a half hour with light driving, 5mph, and now its at 170*

170 is in your operating range. Mine after running a while sits between 165 and 180. Never seen it over 185 though.

150-165 was normal with the old trans, 220 was my high, and still stock:/

And keep in mind the cooler lines run through the radiator, so when the oil/coolant get hot, from idling, they will actually heat up the tranny fluid, since there is no air passing through to cool it.

I would run it, and as long as your temps are within 70* of ambient temp, I wouldn't lose sleep over it.

um my sd 7.3 didnt run it through the rad. the obs does.

1999 and the first half of 2000 didn't have a radiator cooler. All other years did.
