Trans problems

Pulled out for lunch. Thought my rear end grenaded. Downshifted violently from about 35mph down to 1st hear. P0772 shift solenoid E and P2704 transmission E apply time. What am I in for guys? I'm at work now just need to get this figured out.

how long has it been tuned? mileage? What is the fluid like?

180k on the truck. Trans has been rebuilt by ford. It's been tuned for quite awhile. I drive it but I don't beat the dog snot out of it. Fluid is good and full. I literally only went maybe 100yards. It drove absolutely perfect on my 20 mile drive into work

Sounds like its time for a trans, mine did the same thing.

Really? It sounds to me like a stuck solenoid. I suppose by replacing the whole trans you will get a new solenoid. You could also replace the whole truck, that will get you a new solenoid, too.

Nope lots of metal chunks in the pan. Tried anyways with replacing the solenoid, filter, and fluid. Made it about 2 miles before it sounded like 10 thousand marbles in a 55 gallon drum.

So how hard are these to rebuild? Or am I better off buying one? Any offer some good deals either way through this forum?

Anything you guys recommend that I should address while my transmission is out? Everything looks ok. No leaks. Up pipes look good. I'm just not very familiar with this ford yet.
