Would not be hard, The old cooler is just one you pin to the rad core. This way should work great, just something is wrong.

Need to see if there is a restriction but have not had time yet.

I would be willing to bet that the dumb bypass got a chunk in it during the swaparoo and is hung open.....by pass the bypass and give it a whirl.... ??

Update... My pressure bypass has been cut off and welded/brased shut. The tube goes up about 1", is crimped over and brased shut...

so in other words, it cannot possibly bypass, it MUST go thru the coolers ?

if this is in fact the case, the inside-the-radiator-cooler is quite possibly plugged ??? ..(oe mayhap the other one ? .... weird....

This is what it has going on right now...

From the front of the trans to the drivers side port on the water to oil, from the passanger side port to the V-10 cooler from the V-10 cooler to the filter and from the filter to the rear port of the trans.

The pressure bypass is welded shut...

One of the ports on the factory water to oil was loose, less then hand tight, and its not leaking there.

I'm going to remove that line, start the truck and see if it leaks from there. If not I have a plug somewhere.

yep....sounds like a good plan, at least you'll know if you have any flow....

if it's the one that goes to the BACK of the trans, it's the return....if not, it's the pressure line

I removed every line, one at a time from 4 spots... Had pressure all the way to the outlet of the filter...

So the filter could be plumbed backwards, or the filter is just to restrictive.

I had full on fill every bit of a 3/8" line until the outlet, then it just barely was coming out. More then a drain, but less then pressure.

DAMN will that pump move alot of fluid quick, I bet I have 3 qts in a 5 gallon bucket from just a start, run around and check and turn off 4 times.

Mark mentioned 1qt in 15 seconds, hell I would bet I would get 3 or more in 15 seconds.

Filter is bypassed for now.

How hot....

247* internal, 225 in the pan.

Posting from my phone but the filter was connected backwards... going to leave it unhooked for now and drive a bit. If the temps return to normal i will reconnect and see what happens...

It probably did major damage to the trans. That's why it got so hot.

The fluid coming back from the cooler isn't just dumped in the pan. It is used to lube the rear half of the transmission. No flow = no lube.

This is why you NEVER should disable the bypass. If there is a restriction and a functioning bypass the trans will get lubed, but not cooled. You have a warning that something is wrong when it gets hot. Without a bypass you get hot because the trans is running without lube, destroying itself.

Ugh... We will see.

Thinking back now I should have known. I have a line pressure gauge installed, its normally very active from 100 to 250 psi or so. The last few weeks its been very lazy at 100-130psi.

I hate when I do dumb crap like that... I wonder what one of the trans builders I have had dick with this truck bypassed the bypass.

Looks like I will be reinstalling one shortly.

It was getting some fluid, from what I could tell. Just not full flow.
