The price is really tempting, especially since I have a GoGo solenoid sitting here waiting to go in... but I'm not sure if I want to spend the extra coin on 8 more quarts when my trans never even gets hot at all... I've never even had this thing over 200* on the hottest of summer days towing my camper around...

Same here but figured someone out there may want to give it a try. Beats the MagTech costs so hope I helped someone out.

Stamped Steel vs. machined aluminum? It's just a steel pan again. Hmmm

Very interesting though.

Let me know if you want one Brian. They also have tubes that run all the way through the pan for cooling. Have played with a couple of them. Seem well made.

Any volunteers??? 8 additional quarts, temp port, lower cost.....Seems legit.
What does 8 additional quarts do for you, other than emptying your wallet faster when you change the fluid?

How would this pan help cool the fluid? I don't understand how a pan can cool the transmission. Maybe I don't get it, I was only an automatic transmission cooling engineer for three of the years I was at Ford.

What's wrong with a stamped steel pan? Once again, I don't understand.

How would tubes through the pan help cool the trans? This is getting repetitive, I don't understand again. The air around the transmission is well over 200°F degrees when the engine is working hard. That's when you want transmission cooling. How will 200°F air help cool the transmission? Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention in my heat transfer classes. I thought you needed air that was cooler than the ATF to cool it. Silly me.

This is funny I was just ordering one ,, they have been out for a while ..but

I just wanted to make sure it would accomodate the new style filter ,, I sent them an emai but they never answered.

I didn't think it was 8 extra qts?

I do see how those tubes would cool to ambient In my mind better via air to oil and increased surface area?

many folks argue more fluid longer to cool ,, but I would rather have more fluid longer to heat up when in a high demand situation.

EDIT but at the end of the day Mark is always right ,, but if I need to buy a pan for the filter upgrade ,, this looks nice and probably close to the OEM price ?

I noticed this at the bottom of the page-Derale Cooling Products transmission pans can double your transmission's life by dropping its temperature 20 to 50 degrees. These pans hold about one extra quart of fluid and have heat-conducting metal tubes on the bottom. A replacement gasket is included- but up higher it says 8qt increase.... what is it 1 or 8 qts?

adding fluid capacity is just going to make the transmission be less efficient

100% correct.

Large pans dont offer any more cooling ability than a normal one.

In fact if the fluid were to get hotter a large pan hinders cooling ability.

The only way to cool trans fluid is to allow access to cooler air.

Something like a front mount trans cooler or a thermostatically controlled fan cooler.
