What's wrong with a stamped steel pan? Once again, I don't understand.

I never said there was anything wrong, just trying to figure out why it's cheaper than the others. Aluminum pans are just sexier than the steels pans.

Did the 6.4's get an aluminum pan on the 5R?

Please do explain how it cools more......

Easy. Same way a harley does. Its called available surface area. Those extra tubes that are running through the pan ADD surface area for the fluid to get to just like it was the outside of the pan. Any extra airflow that can make it work is fine with me. Allbeit might not be the coolest of air if your working the truck hard, but it better than nothing IMO. The price point is decent enough too so, any takers? How about a group buy?

The harley cooler is directly exposed to open air in the front of the bike.

The pans provide almost zero additional cooling ability

Not talking about an add on cooler either. The heads and cylinders are air cooled remember? So riddle me this, how is that the rear cylinder runs cooler than the front in an AIR cooled motor with normal operating temps at 300+? Any guesses?

It doesnt from anything Ive ever seen.

Its usually 8-10 degrees hotter in my experience.

Even if it were Comparing a harley engine which is completely exposed to open air to a truck trans pan that is not is hardly valid

Ya know sitting in traffic I could see the temps around the trans pan going pretty high
but on the move I would think the air circulating the pan would be much cooler

not down to ambient because of road heat and the heat coming from upstream in the airflow but definitely below 200*

I am going to make notes of my trans temps and ambient for the next few days before I swap pans ,, I also have an IR gun to shoot some external temps

I bought one to stick on my truck but sold it when whenever I found out twisted included a deep pan with their trans.. Its a nice made piece can't say it works but it was made well when I bought mine a buddy bought one as well and put on his dodge gasser and he says the trans run cooler but he was also known to not admit when he wasted money on parts either haha

Not trying to start a pissing match, but after 15 years with harley, and the last eight of those being in a dyno cell, and tuning them. The rear was always cooler. Atleast with my tuning, but on a stocker I could see that because of there timing perameters, and fueling. That was even on full dressers which aren't completly open air like the others. My bikes never even left the dealer stock lol. Back on subject though, with the airflow under the truck it "should" run cooler due to the fact like i stated more available surface area for the fluid to reach. Anyone wanna play lets make a deal , and be a tester?

Very diversified /impressive History Mark

I tracked temps all day ,, my pan is due next thursday so I should have a decent (although not a controlled Environment like Mark would test in) data base for my daily temps

I currently have a Maghytec pan that I am going to monitor temps all next week while I drive my truck on the same 30 mile route to work. Then I am going to do an 08 pan and filter conversion and run that for a week to get temps. Then lastly, I will run this pan here and see what's up whether it makes a difference or not.

Yes that's what they claim. Deal has been made with nate. He's gonna be my guinea pig for this. Stay tuned.
