Transmission slipping really bad on gearheads hot-street

So this morning I was cruising down i-5 and my turbo got super loud, sounded like a jet engine. I got off the freeway and came up to a stop light and you could still here it. I have the no limit intake and it has never been that load. So the light turns green and my truck doesn't even want to go. I can floor it and barely get it up to 15 lb boost. I cruise home and check all the CAC boots and everything look perfect. I take the intake tube off the turbo and long and behold there's a black rubber coupler stuck in the tube blocking over half the intact off. Its the same one that goes over the turbo and secures the no limit intake tube on. I guess I'm just lucky and got two of them, because there the exact same ones. So now to the tranny slipping. I wanted to go drive it and make sure that was exactly it. I have the mini maxx with all four gearhead tunes and gearheads normal tranny tune. I leave it on hot street all the time and I just did all the deletes and programer less then 300 miles ago. I went to a dead end street and took off. It starter burning out as always so I let off and got back in it. It pulled hard all the way to fourth gear where it seemed to slow way down. I would usually be at 90 and I was only at 75 mph. I came up to the stop sign and when I took off the truck slowly started moving. I looked at my mini maxx and it showed I was in fourth gear. So I shut the truck off and back on and same thing it was in fourth gear I pulled it into first and it still showed fourth gear. So I got it up to speed, turned my chip down to stock and manually shifted it into third and it went then second and it went and then first and it went. So I put it in drive and drove back home and now its working fine but I'm scared to go and try it again. I'm 100% sure it f-up. So has anyone else had this happen to them? And what's the max boost you guys are seeing the most I've seen is 43 lb. I'll be ordering tranny parts on Monday, I'm thinking tourq converter, clutches, and billet input. If you guys can think of anything else and what brands? I do plan on making it a 750 HP truck.

Maybe other will chime in, but as far as the "4th" gear lock unlock deal it's been discussed before. If I recall it's something in Fords programming to protect convertor? Correct me guys? Anyhow that's probably what you have going as far as that concern goes. Matt made a few changes late last year to help. Again correct me if I'm wrong guys.

Edit- never had any stuck in 4th issues though?

Well if that's the case I would be happy. I wonder how that is fixed then. I haven't been that bad on this tranny for it to go out so soon. I thought these are tough.

Stock transmission and close to 600 HP, its only a matter of time till you wear it out. Getting hung in fourth is usually a sign of your direct clutch packs wearing out.

Mines will get will do that from time to time. Not sure if its fourth or 3rd. But it takes off slow, usually when getting off the highway. rpms rev up to like 2k i know there is an upgraded direct drive solenoid that is pretty popular, i would bet that cures this issue.

Well I went out tonight and i turned it back up to hot street and it worked perfect so maybe its the solenoid. It didn't feel like it was slipping at all.

Mine used to do that.

I thought it was the solenoid, but I was wrong. I cleared the TCM and did a retune / relearn. Went back out with the laptop plugged in and monitored my line pressures.

It is only a matter of time until you wear out the trans, this is 1000% true.

Mine was doing the exact same thing except with third gear. Did it a few times, ordered parts and had it rebuilt. Love it now. Precision triple disk, sun coast iron pac 3 (turned out to be a joke) and xhd billet input. My hp goals are around 800 so it's right in the same Park

So what would you use in place of the iron pack three

The kit turned into a joke because the things it didn't come with when they say it's everything you need to rebuild the trans, plus I was missing a couple friction plates. Only came with two molded pistons and needs 8, but the two that it comes with are built different so they can hold the extra friction plates. They don't come with any solenoids anymore either, when I was told it did. But even with all the extra crap I had to deal with I'm still really glad it happened the way it did. Definitely learned a ton about these transmissions that I didn't know before and found an awesome transmission guy that will always build my trans. As far as the alto red and the raybestos and the gpz. I think it's really just personal preference. I ordered alto red and received raybestos

I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Automotive Engineering.

I have been an engine development engineer, an automatic transmission engineer, and a differential engineer.

You "were" an engineer but you claim you were never a trans tech.

But wouldn't someone who is an engineer have a pretty good understanding of the mechanical innerworkings of a trans? Especially if you have a background in ME and you're ASE certified. Just asking.

I'm not ASE certified. Where did you get that idea?

I have a VERY good idea of the inner workings of a transmission. Who told you otherwise? This thread is going really, really wrong.
