Because there 850-900 cubic inch engines. And properly fitted with a turbo to match.

I think my primary performance goal is response. I really want this thing to take off whenever I hit the pedal, either from a complete stop or while coasting. I'll probably never have the truck on a dyno and the only time on a track would be for self amusement, if the chance ever comes along. I'm still using stock 3.55 gears on 38's right now, so that may not be helping me. Of course, more power in any other aspect of driving is welcome.

If your main goal is "response"... Then I would be very careful on what turbo you choose. With those giant tires and 3.55 gears you are going to hate life if you go with too big of a turbo. I saw you thinking about a 71mm :badidea:

The stock turbo on these trucks is super responsive. You can get a lot more power out of a turbo swap... but I would not plan on it being "more responsive" down low. High up the the rpm band you wont even notice the lag. But with your giant tires and stock gearing then it is going to take a while for you to get to that higher rpm range that the bigger turbo likes.

If you don't care so much about dyno or track numbers... and your main goal is responsiveness... and you want power whenever you "hit the pedal"... Then I would go with one of the smaller turbos you are looking at.

Let me ask a question... Why are you changing turbos? Is it not responsive enough? Or is it for reliability?

Do they normally use a single turbo? I wonder what they look like and who makes them...

You should just record a whistle, put a push button under your pedal that plays the recording of that whistle on a loud speaker.

I completely agree and thanks for the feedback. I didn't really want to go with anything bigger than 64mm, but thought I would try to get some input from people more knowledgeable on the subject.

The stock turbo does seem to be ideal for my needs come to think of it. Isn't the low end side of the compressor wheel smaller than 50mm? I suppose the main reason behind me wanting to switch turbos is because I'm running out of things to do to my truck, that and I thought it would make me into some type of cool guy or something. I don't know. I have no friends.

Anyway, I have plans to re-gear with 4.10's in the future, but that's going to be another few grand, so I figured a new turbo would bring me more joy for the money. However, I ended up buying an electric piano and some guitar pickups today, so there went a couple grand out of my turbo fund. I actually ordered a throttle sensitivity booster from BD Diesel a couple days ago, so maybe it will solve my response problems on it's own. We'll see...

There you go Dantron, put a semi turbo on your truck:rockon:
I actually wanted to put the semi-truck turbo in my garage to unlock it's secrets and try to understand the mystery behinds it's power. I wouldn't be in this turbo predicament if you didn't put this Danville turbo non-sense in my head a few months ago. Haha... :D

What are your thoughts on doing rods first?

I mean, I like windows as much as the next guy, but I don't really want them in my block.
Meh. That would be smart, but that's not my style. What ever happened to that damn Super Armor? I've been holding my dick for the last few months waiting for it to come out..

How would I listen to my NickelBack records if I did that? I ended up getting this guy to install these whistle things on my exhaust, but it's no substitute for the real thing. It's still cool as hell though...

I wish my truck whistled real loud and had better response than the stock turbo. This thing is so quiet and spools like a turd with this small, dual compressor wheel VGT turbo.

You're right. The heart wants, what it wants. I can still make the dream come alive. I need money though...:lookaround:
