Ok so Im pretty sure Im.going from drw to srw without an axle swap.Ill run Bout a 6 inch lift. Now heres my question say I buy 20"wheels upfront & for the left & right outter 20s I wrap those in.35s thecnically cant I run 35s on the inner wheels since there all still 35 in tall. That way I could save alot of money. So what ya think?

I would not do that. If they are not the same tire and exactly the same size it will eat the tires up.

Just think if one tire is 1/4" shorter, in one rotation, it will have traveled almost 1" less than the other. The tire that slides is going to get ate up in a hurry.

He's talking about going to SRW from DRW.

Ok let me clear this up I have a dually & am thinking abougt going srw because I wanna run 35s.om.20s the ones.I have on my dodge are 35s on 15s.my spare is the same 35 but on a 17 inch wheel side by side there tbe same height just the 17 has less wall.So no.matter if you buy a 35 in tire.for.a 24 inch wheel & a 18,17,22 etc the will wll be the same height.
So if theres nothing Im missing I.could buy 6 new tires & 4 wheels & not have to drop another 500+ for.inner wheels noone will ever see.So what ya think?I was gonna go semi wheels as can get em cheap but cant find tires.@ a good.price

How about you take the time to make a clear and sensible post.

Punctuation and proper grammar go a long way in getting the proper point across.

So your NOT going SRW (single rear wheel)? I'm confused by the post. Your talking about wanting to go from dual wheels in the rear to singles, so why would you need 6 tires?

I think he only wants to buy 4 new tires and wheels, then use a tire he already has to run on the inside, so he doesn't have to buy wheels and tires on the inside.

I still would not mix the tire sizes. I've seen the same size tires be an inch different in hieght from different manufacturers.

I think I see what you are asking. I would not do it, but I think you will be OK. Pay real attention to the space between the tires. If they touch under load, bad stuff will happen.

Not if you force them to touch HARD. Scott Morris was running large tires without spacers on the back of his dually and he had to have them nearly flat to install them and then pumped them both up to max rating so they were hard and no motion between the side walls and has been fine for a long time. The issue gets to be if they get to moving and rubbing as you are going down the road and that generates heat and kills them in a hurry.

As for the OP - although I still don't clearly understand a damn thing he has typed out - I will say that ALL the tires need to be IDENTICAL across the back of the truck in a dually configuration. Different rim size does effect the outside diameter of the tire. As a proof I just went and grabbed a quick little snippet for a set of BFG A/T tires in 35" flavor - one with a 15" rim and one with a 16.5" rim - there is a 0.1" difference in tire height between the two tires and that equates to a 1/2" circumferential difference. Is that enough to cause issues? Maybe not - but they will wear funny until they reach a happy point.
