To those running a combustible through their intake track... you realize you can't time that fuel right? Talk to water/methanol injection salesmen all you want about how it doesn't auto-ignite before the diesel... it does. Hello untimed fuel source. To the people picking up noticable power with methanol on a truck running relatively low intake air temp/pressure.... where is that power coming from? Timing. Cylinder pressure transducers don't care to relay the methanol injection salesman's enthusiasm.

Remember, you're running a 17.5:1 engine at 40+lbs of boost. Would you do that with a port-injected gasser? Well, when you place the fuel into the intake plenum on your diesel it just became a gasser running way too much CR for the boost.

I never thought of it that way, but makes total sense. I was considering getting a setup, not now.

but a lot of people run it without issues to the engine itself.

in the manual it says to let the engine run without it on after use, that would clear up most of teh rust issues

I think on a 6.4 with as much timing ad the tuners are already adding it could cause problems especially if the meth mix is fairly high. Look at a piston out of a tuned 6.4 the spray is already way out of the bowl, Im not sure we would want to add to it anymore. I am no expert though.

A 6L and any other engine will do the same thing.when running alot of timing...its not just a 6.4 thing. Been using it for at least 7 years without one complaint or issue. Either I'm lucky...or maybe I'm just doing something right.

Have you guys pulled your motors apart yet? Started with water than moved up to washer fluid than boost juice and hours on the phone with snow performance and got no where.

Nope don't need to either. I've seen motors torn apart already that were using water mixed with the stuff im using and there was absolutely zero rust. There's a reason your motor had rust. I'm 100% confident mine doesn't with the mixture I've been running for all this time. If my truck was gonna have issues with rust...something would've happened already. I use my water injection every time I drive the truck. Sometimes it'll sit for days without being driven. And gets stored for the winter. If there was gonna be an issue with rust...it would've happened by now.

I never said it didn't work, I don't know anything other than what I have read and been told. The guys I talked to said they never really saw any dif with or without. Maybe they didn't have it set up right, IDK but none of them are new to diesel performance. I just don't think It is worth the risk for me as my egt's stay pretty well in check. If it was a pretty good power adder I would be all over it.
What Charles posted makes a lot of sense to me at least.

Just boost. It has three stages really. Low boost turn on then it ramps to 100% injection on the small nozzle then it opens the second solenoid and the pump steps up rpm and runs a higher pressure using both nozzles. I could actually run three nozzles (2 on max power and 1 on max mpg) but I chose to run the small and med nozzle as that is what works beat in my truck.

My settings start something like this;

Small nozzle turns on at 7 pounds of boost gets to 100% at 14 pounds of boost.

Medium nozzle turns on (In conjunction with the small nozzle )at 16 pounds of boost and it just stays on until I let off the throttle.


I honestly have not ever messed with the tow setting it where it turns on using EGT's as a reference point.
