OK guys thanks. I have to go somewhere tonight so I will drive and see what happens. When it leaks it's just a small amount it doesn't drip on the ground. Maybe some would just leave it I might it's not bad but I hate stuff to leak if I can keep it from doing so.My truck is far from perfect it looks as if it should be leaking stuff everywhere really .

Also if there's any pipe plugs for the unused ports, pull them and apply a sealer. At minimum make sure they're tight.

the oring is tricky to install, you have to tighten the bolts evenly.
I bought my truck with a leaking fresh waterpump install
a couple of trys to get the finicky seal to do its job.
if it leaks it means you bumped it out of position on install

Maybe the bolts are to tight? I think they only call for like 8-10 lb/ft
You know they make a hose that routes around the hose right?

I don't have a torque wrench but they are almost stripped out from being so tight. I don't believe they need to be this tight. Yes I do now I should have ordered the other. I'm no mechanic at all I had to watch some videos to figure out how to change this stuff. I can get this leak fixed I will be happy, but I won't lie and I can admit I don't know what I'm doing. I do know I can't afford a mechanic so I'm learning as I go plus everyone here has been super helpful.

A buddy asked me if I could put a ring of gasket sealer on it is that something that can be done? I just hate draining 2 gallons of coolant for the 4th time to take the housing off. I hope I only have to do that one more time.

That's what it's all about, it's gratifying when you get done.
Might as well get the other hose if you don't mind spending a few extra bucks-- you'll thank me the next time you have to remove the belt

I'm happy for the most part but this leak is driving me nuts. I will hold off on the hose I installed a brand new belt when I changed the pump.

remove the water neck, see if the oring is ruined. if it isnt then reinstall slowly and carefully.
sealant is a dumb idea. it is an oring it needs no sealant if you install it properly

Since you have to drain the coolant, go pick up yourself an upper rad hose from a dual alternator truck. The SD trucks that have a single alternator, the upper rad hose through the serpentine belt. If you ever have to replace the belt, you'll have to drain the coolant.

So what was the problem?

Honestly I hate to say because I'm gonna look dumb as hell. I did say I was no mechanic though. When I pulled off the original water pump I didn't take off the Thermostat housing because I had all new stuff going on new pump. Well long story short I put it in wrong, I thought the gasket went in first, I hadn't seen one changed but I wondered if it was correct so I watched a video and sure enough I did it wrong. Gonna pull it apart and change it around and hopefully I didn't wreck the gasket or housing from wrenching on it like a monkey.
