So I bought this ragged out rusted 7.3 yesterday I shouldn't have but I drove 2.5 hrs and payed for fuel allready and had the trailer there. It's a 1999.5 f250 lifted on 20s with 05 clip ext cab 6 speed 4x4. It's got some electrical gremlins I have to figure out but the engine seems to run decent shifts good just needs lots of tlc. Well it had a new (strait pipe ) which consisted of a 3 inch downpipe and a couple sections of flex and a foot of 3 inch pipe. It was loud and just ****ty so I take it off and go to install the 4 inch he had cut off for some reason well the damn thing don't fit. I text him he said the exhaust that was in the bed fit the turbo that was in the toolbox. Well it does but I don't understand why the exhaust outlets are different. The one pulled from the truck is a stock 99.5 plus turbo the one on it looks just like it except the exhaust outlet is way smaller. What damn turbo is on this truck?

Try this again. I'm beginning to think it's a van turbo?
First pic is the downpipe that fits the turbo on the truck

Looks like a stock turbo, 7.3's are the only reverse rotation turbos I know of. I think you must just have the wrong downpipe.

How do I confirm its a van turbo? I use to have one for my other truck but all I knew was the exhaust outlet was different. Will it kill performance any to just cut the end off the down pipe that fits and weld it onto the 4 inch or should I just buy the van outlet adapter? I'll buy a ******d pedestal and gut the ebpv from the turbo if I do.

Pretty sure it's a van turbo now. I don't know why I was so stumped I'm still pretty new to these trucks hopefully it'll be good with my truck. I'm going to order a blank pedestal, van outlet adapter, and a tapped a.i.h plug now. First good thing about this turd the turbo spins great and has absolutely no shaft play. Can anyone confirm from this pic so I can order some parts?

Thanks for confirming. I can't really swing the bellowed up pipes right now. to much other stuff the truck needs before maryland inspection. Maybe when I sell my f450 I can order them. Is there a replacement gasket set I can order?

You can replace the donuts in the up pipes you have but you really should try to get a set of the bellowed up pipes, check around all the forums once in awhile a used set will pop up. Definitely want to do something with those up pipes while the turbo is out though if they are in fact leaking, they will create a huge power loss.

I'm gonna check for leaks a little better today I found the dorman bellowed for 140 shipped so not near as costly as the international brand but I'm sure quality suffers I'll wait to order them. I ordered a blank pedestal a van outlet a new clamp and a a.i.h plug from riffraff I was kinda disappointed I ordered all that and couldn't get a least free shipping or something. I'm gonna pull my turbo off tonight and then I should be able to see the uppipes pretty good. Hopefully there not leaking.

I've run the dormans 9mos now towing our travel trailer and DD with no issues. For what up pipes are, I won't pay $400.
