I have had 45+ With a HX55 on a stock 6.0L IC and never popped it... But only did it about 20 times.. that could be one reason..

I'm reminded why I don't post in the 7.3 section. Seeing it with your own eyes several times is never good enough LOL

I plan on changing my IC out to a solid aluminum one from banks for the 6.0. hence the reason I built my IC pipes out of 3.5" piping. That way it would fit the banks. I just do not need to yet since I am going to keep it around 40psi till the compounds are done. then it will have to be changed out with a solid IC.. i was not doubting you. just saying the 6.0 IC I have did it, Though i will admit i was waiting for it to blow!

You are the biggest ****in douche bag I know on this site if you know more than all of us and everyone else is wrong obviously your too good so why even try helping us. There is atleast 5 people here who have pushed a stock ic farther and it has worked so just because u had a bad one doesn't mean everyone is going to.

I am assuming you are speaking to me. If so, let me address your ignorance. Why would I, knowing that several people... And I stress several people, have blown up plastic end tank intercoolers, not mention that could be a high possibility of occurrence and should be avoided if at all possible. Should I have just let the very FEW sucess stories from guys with wed. built intercoolers be taken as the common occurrence with these things? That's not my style. If the OP chooses to run one, then so be it. If people choose to say that they won't break because theirs have not and the horror stories across several forums of these things breaking are irrelevant, well than so be that. Atleast the OP knows the scenario. He has been educated. I hate that the 7.3 has become such a broke dick mod platform for guys wanting everything for nothing and telling people who try to save others money to further that goal, people who actually may know from experience, that they are douche bags. I'm sure you have plenty of non-existent self experience to hand out to the OP so I will let you have the floor. It's guys like you that remind me why I got out. Anyway, carry on with your ramblings.

Yes Sir. A guy in Australia bought it. He's gonna be doing some chassis work and taking it down the strip over there. Should be a fun ride once the nitrous comes on :D

You got out because you could not get your **** to run... End of story...

You love to talk trash...

You know of a few that have popped, there are countless THOUSANDS out there that are pushed to 40+ psi all the time that have not popped.

I hit 47psi again this weekend playing, oh no... I must be on borrowed time.

Yup, there junk... You see 6.0's and 7.3's on the side of the road every day with blow up intercoolers, should be a recall on them...

You should start a class action lawsuit, you know so much about how ****ty they are.

I ran my plastic tank all the way up until my motor blew a month ago. It saw 40psi on regular basis for almost 2 years.

Granted, I have had a spare 1999 aluminum intercooler here for when it did blow, and I swapped it in last night when I button the truck up with the new motor installed.

Its kinda like the boat I was in with PMR's. You know its going to fail eventually. Its just a gamble you have to take.

How do you know its going to fail???

You do understand that the metal end tanks are attached the same way as the plastic ones are... Just clamped on...

My PMR's never failed, there still perfectly fine in the shop...

I don't. And/or didn't.

But the other fact I didn't like, I was always afraid of tightening the intercooler clamps too tight and busting the plastic inlet and outlet.

LOL

I will admit, I was suprised the other day when I removed mine. They had little metal rings on the inside, I guess to help with that problem. Does yours have that? Is that a thing from the factory?

My stock 6.0 cracked the 2nd or 3rd time I hit 60 psi.

My stock aluminum end tank one has held 60+ many times and currently still in the truck seeing 40-45 psi.

I have several customers who have stuck with the stock plastic end tanked intercoolers with up to 71mm s4's.... so far I haven't had one fail (two went out of here this month seeing 50+ psi). When they do, a metal end tank intercooler will go in.

FWIW, I've seen stock 6.0's blow the end tanks off (can think of two this year I replaced), I've not seen a stock 7.3 end tank pop off. Maybe I'm just working on more 6.0's/6.4's then 7.3's........
