I despise them because there a oiled filter. Why pay for them when you can run a afe, s&b, or anything that has proven themselves.

they are oiled as well.:poke:

(unless your running their dry version?)

i drive between 3-4 miles every day to get to pavement and viseversa from where i live... and drive across country all over.... every cone filter i have ran dusted my intake... the least of all was the amsoil dry filters but if you let them go more then 5k miles it starts sucking the dirt threw, so as long as i cleaned them every 3k like needed they were great. just got sick of trying to find a place to clean them while i am out on the road away from home... afe was a close second, k&n was the worst. the oiled filters had to be cleaned every couple thousand miles after the first initial cleaning.. now im trying the aem dryflow because i was sick of cleaning and oiling, and they claim longer cleaning intervals. better then k&n but not as good as afe.. i see after a few thousand miles there is some dust in my intake again... so as stated before the 6637 is my favorite and i will soon be going back to the 6637... only ill have two of them because i built a y pipe for all the cone filters i have used because i figured i could go longer with cleaning intervals and way less restriction witch is true on the less restriction but not on the cleaning... so i am going to make room to run two 6637s when i get around to doing it....

i figured with the amount i have spent on cone filters and cleaning and re-oiling products that i could put a new 6637 on every year for the next 15 yrs.

6637 filter is the way to go. You can make it cheaply DIY style too.

Have any of the 7.3 guys tried retrofitting a stock 6.0 intake setup, or is there just not enough room for it? For the guy DD'ing his truck on a 6.0, if you're near dusty conditions at all, just stick with the stock setup. One of the best I've used on anything...

Have you tried Fords AIS system? (link below)

Not stock 6.0 but close and built for a 7.3.

Thanks fellas where could I get a 6637

napa, wix dealers, or fleetfilter.com

:whs:

The part number is 6637 for the filter, hence 6637 filter. They will most likely not have it in stock unless you live in a bigger town. Call up your local NAPA and tell them what you need along with a 4" 45* exhaust elbow.

It shouldn't cost you more than a $100 to do.

This is what it will look like with a 38r. Stock will look slighty different connecting to the turbo. I'll see if I can't pull up a pic with the stock turbo.

filtration wise the stock air box is a great filter as long as it seals... the ais system is by far the best filtration set up you can get, but both are restrictive... notice the little snorkel on the front of the stock set up and the ais... its a little square..

the stock filter is actually rated at over 600cfm but it wont flow it... the wix/napa 46637 filter is only rated for just over 400cfm.... but its volume makes up for flow... beans took a dirty 6637 filter and dyno'd with it on, then took it off and dyno'd again and it made absolutely zero difference on a 400hp 7.3...

K&Ns flow better but at the cost of filtration. dirt is the #1 enemy of these engines.
