Yes.
What I did was make every normally open switch close to ground.
So when temp switch reaches 210 it closes and compleates the ground to the relay, and that engages the clutch.
Same with manual switch in cab
And same with the AC presure switch.

I put an inline 15 amp fuse on the positive wire feeding the relay.

Soder everthing nice with shrink tube , cover with split loom and tie up nice with zip ties , done.

The reason I like just switching the grounds is so you don't got hot wires running all over the engine compartment. Only one hot going to fan clutch.

I just received my Horton fan clutch kit 996124. It comes with the harness and a NO 210* temp switch, but it's 1/2" NPT. Now to find some time to get it installed.

For the best price, look on E-Bay. The kit lists for $700.

I got part #996123 for $299 plus $17 shipping.

Part #996124 is the kit which includes the temp sensor and harness
Part #996123 is just the fan clutch and usually cheaper.

Rusty, are there any part numbers on the switch and harness? I have part #996123.

With the 210* temp switch, you have to know what temp the switch opens up. Also you need to know what temp your T-stat is.

I've had mine on for a month now. Works great.


Fan comes on 210 and looks to me shuts off about 200.

I'm running a terminator 180 stat. I'm sure a stock 192 stat would work perfectly fine also with the 210 sensor.

Maybe I'm confused on how this works. I'm running a 192* stat. Wouldn't you want the fan to kick on around 192* when the T stat is opening ?

Normal fan on temps in cars and over the road semi trucks is any where from 205 to 220.

Your stock thermo clutch fan dosent come on till 215-220.

The water hasn't even had a chance to cycle thru your rad at 192. Your stat is just starting to open at that temp.
My truck will cruise at 200 while towing heavy in the heat.

Just got off the phone with them because the radiator they were supposed to ship me on 9/2 isn't here. They have pushed back the 9/2 shipment date to 9/16 because of the holiday. :mad:

I currently have a 195* t-stat, I am going to run that first. I also have a 203* from Dieselsite that I might run at a later time.

And if your fan clutch did not come with the instructions, here is an important piece of info to maximize the life of your fan clutch. It's item#1.....

There is a 1/2 coolant plug at the rear of the driver's side head. I want to keep the wires on the driver side as I don't want wires running all over the place. I didn't check how the coolant flows on the 7.3.

I'll swinging by my shop later today. If I remember, I'll get the info/pics for the connector and AC switch. I haven't looked into the terminal arrangement on the switch.

There's four 1/2 inch plugs you can use. Pick one. There's two on each head.

It wont make a diffrence what one you use.

I'm not sure on the sensor.

I went to my local auto salvage yard and went to the ford section. I found a couple ford Taurus cars. I robbed the 4 wire pigtail and sensor off the a/c compressor. I think the fiesta and a few other fords use same switch. The cars use that switch to activate the electric fans when head presure in a/c system gets to high. It also acts as a cutout if it gets really high.
So all you do on our trucks is un screw the stock sensor and screw on the other one. Wire it in and your good.

The guy at salvage yard charged me $10 for the pigtail and sensor. Works good!!
