shoot, my buddy spent 6k+ on just the cans of paint for his house of color, at cost. And he just painted a VW Corrado, not a truck. Good body work materials are Expensive! And it doesnt pay to use mediocre stuff, just doesnt look as good.

Actually, I've seen 15k paint jobs get done in about a week. People must work slow over there, kinda like you with those Apex Manifold numbers that you're a year late with delivering. :flipa:

I didn't realize they had a lot of body work to get done too. It's all good, I was just curious. I'm anxious to see what this thing is gonna look like.

Are you guys going with a House of Kolor paint or are you using something else? I'm "getting close" to my shortbed conversion, I was planning on getting a decent paint job myself, but I'm gonna have to wait on that. With the way things are going, I'm probably looking at getting furloughed here soon at work. I'll have to settle with my Dark Stone paint scheme for the moment.

I like the way you guys cut the frame, how much did ya'll cut out? I was planning on cutting mine this weekend coming up (1 March) but the guy who's buying my flatbed backed out on me... so I'll postpone it a little longer.

Also... since you guys have already done the work... is there ANY way to make the 38 gallon tank fit? It'd be awesome to have a Regular Cab Shorty with a 38 gallon tank.

I cant remember exactly how much I cut out... 14 or 16". I dont see a 38 gallon fitting. Especially if it's 4wd.

Well, probably about time for another update. We decided that it would make a lot more sense to just send the bed and the cab to paint and leave the chassis at the shop so i could work on it.

So, a couple weeks ago, I built a dolly to set the cab on to take to paint.

And here is the cab on the dolly and the truck heading over to my buddy Dennis's. He owns Ozzie's body shop here locally and they do some bad ass work.

And we took the chassis over to the other shop so I can tinker with it.

Thats one way of doing it lol, sweet! Can't wait to see the finished product. 12k for a paint job with some body work doesn't surprise me one bit.

I hope you plan on leaving those snazzy grab rails on the bed so all the drunk rednecks don't fall out when you goose that little shorty. LOL

Very cool, thanks. And dang... I was hoping that I could get that 38 gallon tank to fit, oh well. Just another part to buy at the salvage yard. It's going to be a good looking truck when ya'll are done. I know Steve's probably pretty excited about it, I sure as hell am!
