    Help!

From my factory service manuals, this is the only spec I could find: Piston Height Above Crankcase: 0.254-0.787 mm (0.010-0.031 in) I'm assuming that "above crankcase" means above the block deck. Cheers!

    Zf5 fluid

The ZF-5 uses Synthetic ATF. If you want to use something more viscous, use the RedLine MTL as previously mentioned. The factory actually uses an Allison-spec'd synthetic ATF, Castrol TranSynd. Cheers!

Where can I get this gasket quick??

Factory part is F4TZ-9E436-A. You could probably get away with using the oil filter seal for a 2002 Honda Civic 1.7L VTEC. It's a little thicker, but same dimensions otherwise. Cheers!

    Help truck won't start

Wait-to-Start light coming on? Are all underhood fuses good? CEL illuminated? If it has a chip, are the symptoms the same with the chip physically removed (not just turned to stock setting)? Cheers!

    oil cooler or worse?

The block and heads are pretty stout on these trucks. I would bet on the oil cooler and you really have nothing to lose by pulling it and inspecting. Hopefully, that's what it is. Cheers!

    OBS no start

Fuel pump on the OBS PSD is a 2-stage pump right in the middle of the engine valley. Does the WTS light come on? Is the CEL illuminated? Oil Level good? What's fuel pressure at the shrader valve (driver's side of the filter bowl) when cranking? Check the condition of the wiring connections at...

    Wiring New CD player

For a truck with the Premium Sound option, I've found the easiest way to wire a new deck in was to remove the separate Premium Sound amplifier and it's harness. After that you are left with the harness connectors for a regular non-premium sound truck and you can use the pigtail adapters...

    Ford slave cylinder question

By "upgraded" I mean that the bore sizes were larger. I had no problems with the plastic slave or master once I got those parts. Back when I was having the problems, there wasn't a lot of parts available in the aftermarket yet. Cheers!

    Ford slave cylinder question

The Ford units are all plastic. The early slaves were a smaller bore. The later (upgrade) ones had a larger bore and since the slave needs to be matched with the master, hence the need to buy everything (the line is different where it connects to the master). I went through 2 cracked slaves...

    Water restriction sensor

I'll assume that you are referring to the fuel restriction sensor vice the Water-In-Fuel sensor. The FRS is a tapered pipe thread and I would use a liquid type sealant over a tape-type to avoid isolating it from ground. I replaced the sensor with a plug, so I used tape since I wasn't concerned...

    Gauge installation

The boost gauge should be purely mechanical (no power required to operate it). The 12V connection should only be for the lighting. Cheers!

    Gauge installation

Many folks just use a "fuse tap" on underdash fuse #10 and use that wire for the extra gauge lighting. Cheers!

Bleeding the clutch on a zf6

If you are trying to bleed by hand-cycling the slave with everything in the truck, try disconnecting the master's rod from the pedal linkage and then do it. It sounds stupid, but it worked for me once I did that. Cheers!

97 OBS Won't Start after Fuel Bowl Repair

Make sure you reconnected the fuel bowl wiring harness and IPR wiring if you disconnected those. Cheers!

    Blinking OD light

Was your original harness from an E-series as well? What about the underdash harness? Cheers!

    Blinking OD light

Where did the shop get the harness? There are differences in the early and later harnesses, especially at the firewall feedthrough (C202). Cheers!

    95 f350 wiring problems

There are some differences between the earlier trucks and the 97's, especially on the main firewall feedthrough connector C202. As Bugman suggested, you will most likely need both years' EVTMs to figure it out. I've posted on forums before on this same issue, although I'm not sure I had a good...

    96 PSD service manual

For the wiring portion I would buy a paper version of the Electrical and Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM) for about $30 from Helm. For Service Manual stuff, use this link: http://www.diesel-dave.com/vehic/manual/stj/stjleft.htm Cheers!

    SD UVCH

The plastic clips are the early style of UVCH. They also had little seals on the injector connections. The newer ones use the "bail wire" clips with no seals which aren't needed (and won't fit anyway). Cheers!
