We have recently done a 4r100 behind our race truck. Its flawless shifts every single time without a skip.
Granted out truck only makes 900hp, which for a 4r100 is hardly pushing it..... It works perfect for what we need.
We are doing the tuning of it on a USshift controller that is very simple to use once you get the hang of it.
We never tried the 5r life behind our truck, it has always been 4r since we built it.
I have heard awesome things about the 5r that some companies are building and the tuning that goes along with them goes a long ways to keeping them alive. I wouldn't hesitate on a 5r behind anything under 1000hp. Some are even having good luck WELL above that level. They have come a very very long ways in the last year or two.
