Like I mentioned before, if you dropped your truck off somewhere, most places, turn key would be in the $7500-$8000 range to leave with the swap and that includes EVERYTHING. Are you really looking for a $8000 transmission for a 650hp?? You can get an extremely robust 5r for a great price and put it in there along with an excellent converter. It really boils down to how much money you have.

Shawn, I'm curious about Rudy and MPD ditching the 4r…are they experiencing issues or are they gonna try to test the limits of a well built 5r?

I'll say this. The 4r was the best shifting life gest lasting trans I have driven in king Kong hands down. Leaps and bounds better than the 5r that was in it and is now in it

Then why switch back? Sounds eutopic

Craig wanted to see if some new things could make it live with the 5r. From a launch it has no clue what to do

Just the person I wanted to talk to!

So you do like the 4r on the track?

I feel like my 5r can't keep up with how fast my truck winds out with my 4.30 gears

If you want to do it, do it. I would with mine but that's my preference. Like I said. How many of you have actually driven one with a 4r

But why isn't it worth it? If it's faster down the track it's faster.

Especially if the pricing is close.

If the pricing is really $5000 out the door, MAYBE. Before we were talking $7500 for the swap....That is stupid for 600-700hp.

Im staring at a 6.4 right now with 1100hp. Has had a hard 6 months with EDEs stage 5, 5r110 and never misses a shift at 4300rpms.

I know there are others who are reading this thinking the same exact thing but arent posting. Just like shawn said.

I get what you're saying..

I know 7500 doesn't buy that stage 5 EDE trans ;)

And yeah my truck is 600hp now, that doesn't mean I'm done with it!

Once again has anyone been in a truck with a 4r if not then you have no business talking about it. The only downside I see is a couple of lights on the dash and no cruise. If that is a problem for you then this is not your swap

I have no problem with people sticking up for the 5r, I wanted to hear both sides.

I know there aren't many that actually have done the swap, I really appreciate you chiming in mike

You're right Mike. Whiskey. Foxtrot. Over and out.

All I'm saying is I've used both and that's what I prefer. The op will decide and I hope he's happy with what he gets.

Listen to what mike is saying if you can swap the trans yourself like I did it saves alot of money if you have plans on making higher HP then I'd go with the 4r
