wayne the tangs do nothing to prevent the bearings from spinning, they are only to aid during the assembly process. just fyi. thats all

While true 90% of the time I have to differ on that opinion. Especially under extreme temperature conditions where the rod and rod bearing expand at different rates.

Hence why we use tang'd and dowel'd rod bearings in some of our high load high rpm gas pulling and drag race engines. And I have seen them come back running fine ready for a freshen with the hole egg shaped on the dowel from bearing movement.

Just saying sometimes friction isn't always enough.

Way to back out of that statement and act innocent. It took you long enough to come up with a response

Sorry my response was not quick enough for you. My new job doesn't allow me to monitor the army all day like my old one. I will make every effort to respond faster for you.

As far being innocent I'm far from it I've been busting dans balls since this thread started. My response was in reference more to the fact that Dan bites on to anything his current engine builder is telling him. Sorry that Wayne took offense. Before Wayne's idea, it was a girdle from elite, then before that it was the magic dust CA was gonna sprinkle on his turbos to make them spool when everyone said they wouldn't and before that it was CFD.

I know I know. I shouldn't be questioning the great Dan because he is "pushing" the limits on the 6.7 and is "man" enough to spend all that money.

If a quality girdle were available, despite the brand, I'd encourage him to use it. The bottom end could use more rigidity. That bottom end is rough, but not bed plate tough. At least it's not a 7.3 block :lookaround:

Oh stop it 👆

Girdle from elite isn't going to be available in the time frame I'm looking at having this thing back on the road. I'm not playing those games anymore.

Turbos spool fine thanks, at 5k feet above sea level, brake stall testing I could get on top of the chargers in under 7 seconds on fuel. It's only going to be better at 800feet in Fort Mac. Those turbos are exactly what I was after.

Let's not get carried away here. Trucks parked. Has been for the majority of 2 years now.

Get off my balls

We have had pretty good luck with our engine in our race truck with 70 plus low 10sec passes
I think you will be fine without the girdle and having some good cool oil
We run valvoline 5w-40 in ours and pull the filter every other time at the track to check for copper and metal and all have been clean

I have several questions for you guys. Not trying to anger or pushover or whatever... just questions... I'm always open to learning something new.

1. Why run a 40 weight oil vs a 30 weight oil in a dedicated drag truck... I don't care about the 5 or 15 in front. This is concerning the weight?

2. What benefit is colder oil vs hotter oil?

3. When you take the oil filter off and cut open with a filter cutting tool aka giant pipe cutter, is the visual inspection for large chunks?

My eyes are rather dim and cannot see parts per million. Even when I take the media and smash it in a 40 ton press to remove all liquids.

Thanks.
