Dan did you ever say what all the bungs are for? I know water meth was mentioned but wasn't sure if that was legit.

I like to keep my options open!!!

I haven't even driven the truck yet, I get off work tonight so I'll head down to Edmonton and be back driving it tomorrow... I'm playing the water meth by ear... So I'll let ya know if it goes on or not... See how the truck acts first

Fixed some misaligned vbands (boost leak) and plumbed pilot to bov so it doesn't open, around town egts do not exceed 1000*f (same as before) so far I notice marginally faster spool up and no real change in egts, meaning the air to water is ineffective in high performance applications...

I'll be doing more testing today after I get some sleep including towing a camper trailer... Will post further findings

Dan, just had a question for you. So you mentioned that you kept boiling over your secondary cooling system. Now, I know that secondary overflow tank is TINY and appears to have very little room for coolant expansion. Have you thought about trying to experiment with with a larger secondary coolant overflow tank and see if you experienced the same issue? It would have not only increased your coolant capacity for that system, but increased the amount of room you had for the coolant level to fluctuate due to demand increase and pressure build up.

I don't see the big deal as a temporary solution. Just watch EGT and fog accordingly.

It's not like he had a massive intercooler on there to begin with.

actually, the intercooler is huge. The secondary radiator was overwhelmed by it's size. It was definitely working, too good; hence the boil over. A larger degas bottle would only buy a little time before another boil over. Combine that with poor fitting and poor working piping, and it's time for a complete revision. Until he has enough time to do a proper air-air intercooler, this will be a fine stop gap so long as egt's are monitored.

I feel like you think because I'm young I have no clue about anything........ But I do. Haha

Honestly, thought you were older, never really cared.

My only issue is that you build up an expensive ass truck, have issues with multiple engines (their demise has been somewhat hidden, unless I missed it), and drag vendors through the mud. I'm all for calling out vendors when there are issues, but when you do careless things "just because" or jerry rig something rather than finding the source of the problem and fixing it right, I personally question some of the allegations you have made in the past with Elite, or those that might come in the future.

I only know what has been posted on the forums about this build, and I'm sure there are plenty of tidbits of information I missed, or that never made it on the forums. I hope you get this thing replumbed and working the way you expected, with no more surprises. I'll go back in my hole and follow the thread quietly. :hammer:

I'm the guy running the show.... So if you don't like it, do it better yourself
Just a question man. I figured you had previous experience with not running a cac by the way you worded it.

Yeah I'm the problem here, I have issues with a vendor or non vendor so I immediately go crying on the fourms. So yeah... Awkward

I'll explain the elite engine when I get a sec and feel like it... Right now I'm just gunna enjoy my camping trip

I'm with Six Slow! While others can throw around all the comments and criticism they want, I like to see different things and respect you for reporting back, good or bad.

Many will go and hide if something goes south, but you're loud and proud haha.

Let us know how the No CAC goes, interested on results just for shear knowledge.

Ok so I had a sweet set of days off, towed a little tent trailer down into Saskatchewan, did some boating and camping... Was good to get away for a bit!

So as far as the charge air cooler delete... Good times! Haha didn't have time to put a water meth kit on before I left so I was free balling it with no charge air cooling! It works fine but as expected isn't ideal. 32*c weather, egts didn't get above 1050*f. Cruising along at 125kmh egts are 800* at 10lbs boost. As for how the engine reacts to no charge air cooling at all... Well those of you that have poked around mcc/ efi live etc know there's a multiplyer table for iat/ main pulse... So that being said, the higher intake air temps affect the ecms calculation for main injection pulse giving the truck the same feel as when the old charge air system would become heat soaked... Except now it's all the time. Smokier, moodier, and a drop in mileage. From 9.5mpg to 8.4mpg. Basically good thing it's a temp solution!!! Haha I'm going to leave it as it is, not even bother putting water meth on the truck, cause if it hasn't blown up after those 3000km it'll survive till the end of August at which point my welder buddy and I have free schedules! Till then I'll be heading to California with the truck next set of days off and then BC the set after, really mile out the old girl!!

As for what's next... Well air to air.. Gunna be sizing up a 6.4 cooler, cummins cooler, see what might fit best! Suggestions welcome!

Also going to be trying out a s467.7 as my high pressure charger, only 2 reasons why, right now cruising at 125-135kmh 2k rpm (since I put the 40s on) ish I'm just under my chargers, at 10 lbs. before with the 38s I was at 21-2200 rpm and 15+lbs so kinda shot myself in the foot there but down shifting into 5th to go up hills without smoking a lot gets fairly old... Love that charger on my vp44 cummins so it'll be fun on the Ford.. Who knows I might see a bump in mileage running on more charger!
