There used to be tons of guys running 190s with stock turbos, full fuel tunes, and they weren't overspinning the turbos. The trucks were smokey, but the VGT tuning was written to keep bp in check and the turbo in its efficiency range. There is enough movement in the VGT vanes to keep bp down, even with much more than stock fuel, so I should think the compounds could be done without a wastegate. That is how Duramax guys do it, and their turbos are very similar.

Just need a strategy the doesn't use the ebp sensor. It can work, no one has just had the drive to really put forth the effort. I hope it all works out for you guys Mike. Eric is going to be a key player in the truck. Will open up a lot of avenues for the 6.0 if its sucessful

I don't really want to go over a 155 injector. A smallish primary with the stock vgt would make for a great set and do exactly what I want. I wouldn't think an external gate would be needed for that much fuel. Only difficult thing I could see would be tuning. Also, how would the stock vgt survive? If back pressure was kept in check it should live just fine I would think.

That's going to be a lot of work and effort for 155cc injectors.

But do you really need compounds for the 155's? How much faster is it going to spool up over what you have now? I'm not trying to knock it by any means, I'm definitely interested to see where it goes, just want to ask the questions and see what you think. I've been thinking a long time about a quick spooling small compound setup on mine. Was initially thinking a 62 and a 70 or 72, something in that range, without going crazy, but I was thinking more along the lines of a 190/75 or something. Not a 155/40...

I'll probably just do stock turbo and 155s or stock injectors. I don't really want to spend 2-3k on larger injectors. A cool, clean 5-550 would be nice for a DD.

I don't think so. I have a spare engine for mocking it all up. I can't see it taking that long to put the twins together. And for the price it would be plenty worth it to me.

To each their own I guess. Either way, best of luck for sure. I really do hope it works out for ya.

It is alot of work, and time especially IMO. Granted, Colton and I haven't done this sort of thing before.

How good are your fab skills?

If you do this kind of work daily, then by all means, go for it, I think it would be pretty sweet. I want to see more guys going for twins.

I was thrown into doing mine because I got shafted from my fab guy..so I didn't have much of a choice.

My fab skills are pretty good. Bending and notching tubes for cages I've done and some exhaust work so I think I can handle it. If 155/40s or 155/70s can fuel enough to drive a 71 then I may go for it. I never thought to use the stock vgt but if it would work I would definitely go that route. An he351 isn't a bad option either.

Yeah using the stocker would definitely cut down on the costs. Even if you had issues with it at some point, they're a dime a dozen. To me, at least, the 155's just don't seem worth doing compounds for. It seems that a well matched turbo to the 155's should get you around the 500 mark anyways with a relatively quick spooling setup for street driving, without the hassle and complication of compounds. Again, not knocking, just trying to figure it out myself.

I will be watching this one.
