I don't run a non VGT but from what I have gathered and seen, divided up pipes are key. Tuning changes as well will be needed when going from VGT to Non VGT.

Box 366 has to big of turbine wheel for the 6.0, if you ask me. swap out that 73mm for a 70mm and I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.

OP, play with the turbine side a little on different housings. If it's the 66 i'm thinking of you'd bought, probably wouldn't be a bad idea to have it gone through. Let me know, I know a guy that can help ;)

Along with proper up-pipes and tunes. Divided housing on un-divided mount/uppies, the turbo is going to spool like crap period. Majority of the good kit's out there have divided up pipes because most box t-4 turbo's have divided flanges and housings. Or they have a custom turbo for their own custom mount.

Yea Cody it's the one your thinking of. I just don't have the money to throw at the turbo right now. My biggest priority is to get the gasket issue fixed. After that I was planning on building a good setup for a non vgt and moving up to a s372 and 250 conventionals. One step at a time..

Understandable. If you need anything or decide to have that one gone through let me know. I'm also willing to bet that's part of the problem as well.

Learned that the hard way trying to pull 10K cross country, had to give up and use a different truck. Looks like I will have to put the power max back on when I go to utah this year. What is the issue behind towing with a big vgt, just to big to keep spooled at highway speeds?

I wouldn't recommend a 66 for towing very much weight

I went from extreme x for the barder to spd for the s366. Imho the barder pulled harder than the 66 does. I don't have divided pipes or a high stall converter. All I swapped was turbo and tune.

I'd say do divided up pipes, new tuning and a 2,000-2,200 converter and I bet it'd be a whole different experience. Also you will have to change your driving habits.

2005 F250 6.0 powerstroke, 6 speed manual, egr delete, arp head studs, new oil cooler, aftermarket coolant filter, custom intake, 4" down pipe into dual 6" stacks, 8" lift, TSD super panty dropper tune.

I know a high stall tc and up pipes will help with spool. Both are added costs that make the non vgt probably cost more in the end and I'm sure the tc would help with the barder. In my opinion after driving both turbos, I would recommend the barder for a daily. It's way simpler to install, has a wider range of usable power, and seems to pull as hard. Not sure if the excessive smoke yesterday was because it only had 11 miles on it since the retune and kam reset? It wasn't as bad today leaving work. And the Ids pids said I had 34psi mgp and 49psi ebp. Maybe I'm getting better with my driving habits. I really want to take it to the track to see if I can go faster than 12.4 because if it doesn't I don't see the benefit of the s366 over the barder 3. Just my 2 cents.

I swear these setups must be so wrongly matched that some people drive. Having the correctly specd turbo and the right tuning is so important on these setups. You can't just throw on some random turbo and when it doesn't work throw it out the window lol

Divided up pipes would change that alot. That mount is useless

I had an rcd kit that used a t3 66 with a smaller turbine and tight housing with the same style adaptor the turbonetics kit has...and the spool up was bad. It pulled great up top but completely gutless down low.

In the process of putting my ced divided pipes on right now :)

I have an S366 and HUGE injectors, (too big for my liking, but I got a good deal) 300/100 conventionals, and I had gearhead tune it and I can merge on the highway no problem and keep it basically smoke free, I'm using MPD's up pipes and their injectors. Not a single problem. Just posting for reference.

True, even with how slow my turbo spooled eric did a great job keeping my truck very manageable.. I'm hoping divided pipes make a big difference, I was having trouble making 10 psi just to launch the truck with my old setup

T4 divided housing and T4 pipes should do the trick. My 76 with 87 turbine drives good for what it is. It hazes accelerating that's about it. But spools well enogh for me to drive it. Stop bitching and buy some divided uppies. Lol

Well seems like when the cab comes off for new heads I'll be welding some up pipes together and switching my tunes to gearhead. I appreciate the help. I'm not sure of the hills you have in MD, MI or VA but that's the variable I'm blaming my bad experience on. Where I live your either coasting down or climbing a hill. Using my tow/haul button seems to make life a lot easier, if I keep about 2k rpm it's not all that bad.

seriously. A PROPER 366 setup spools so fast.
