I swapped my Barder stage 3 out for a s366 last night. After driving the truck today I don't know how people daily a non vgt. In my opinion it was a huge step backwards. The truck rolls tons of smoke unless I'm above 2700 rpm, coasting down hill, or barely on the throttle on a flat. On hills and on ramps I'm forced to pull in into 3rd to clean it up.

I went from extreme x for the barder to spd for the s366. Imho the barder pulled harder than the 66 does. I don't have divided pipes or a high stall converter. All I swapped was turbo and tune.

I was going to ask what set up your running. My personal trucks with 66 didnt act like that. even with 205s. spool at about 1850 if I remember correctly

I have an s400, 467.7 to be exact, huge injectors manifold, up pipes and ported intake, I wouldn't go back to a vgt, I've even towed with this setup with no issues!

Had to completely change how you come on to it, can't just stomp on it and pray it'll spool, roll into it after you have Alittle boost (5-10psi) then you can stomp on it

But after a full summers worth of sled pulling and drag racing it's in need of some headgaskets orings and Alittle more tlc while I'm there

I couldn't imagine pulling a trailer with this set up. When I leave work it's 300 yards from the dealership to the on ramp then a hill probably a mile long. I tried easing into it and it was hopeless, I literally shut the highway down because nobody could see, and all it did was lug itself down and made more smoke. Maybe I should call tsd up and try to get a little better tune? Seems like many on the site swear by their tuning. Only reason I went to the 66 was because I'm pushing coolant with studs and want to try oring heads. I was hoping to sell the barder to be able to afford the heads. Seriously reconsidering now.

I occasionally street drive an s476/87 with large injectors and it's no where near the way u talk about the 66.

Lot of things come into play

Tuning, fuel, convertor, tire size, up pipes , exhaust housing, exhaust wheel, ect

When I ran 190/75's and a 66 it was pretty clean and pulled like a monster up top also put down 632hp. I wouldn't tow with it though but I am running 35s.

Also divided up pipes are a pretty big requirement imo

I'll have to get a video tomorrow if I get time. Btw 6L, still waiting for that guy to pick up his 6.4, I'm not trying to give you the run around. Scparrish, what tuning did you run?

Well it sounds like their might be something wrong... maybe tuning??? Maybe you have an exhaust/boost leak???

But to answer your question about s366 vs 68mm vgt... I have had a couple of guys switch both ways (366 to 68mm vgt and 68mm vgt to 366). All of them had very similar results. They made about the same power but... the 68mm vgt usually having a slight edge. Also they all reported that the 366 spooled like crap compared to the 68mm vgt. After lots of tuning, new up pipes, more mods, etc... they all stated that spool up got better with the 366 as long as you kept your rpms up... but the 68mm spools much faster.

I think a 66 is pretty good for the price. I feel that it's over hyped but delivers good power for how extremely cheap they are. It does like higher rpms for sure.

Box 366 has to big of turbine wheel for the 6.0, if you ask me. swap out that 73mm for a 70mm and I think you'd be pleasantly surprised.
