i had a motor puke once, when i pulled the heads gaskets were perfect. coolers were on the truck at the time so i blamed them. unless the block is cracked, i cant see any other way of pressurizing the system. stupid question, have you swapped the degas cap ?

No, I haven't swapped the cap yet. It just happened at about 8:30 when I got home from work. I live up a hill to my driveway that is about 1/2 mile long. I ran it maybe 3/4 throttle up to around 80 and then backed out for a turn.

I was just really shocked to smell coolant when I pulled in the driveway.

Could it be thermostat stuck open? I can't see that short pull blowing the gaskets.

Check to make sure the radiator isn't cracked or the reservoir or hoses aren't leaking. I would be surprised if the gasket would be leaking. We have never yet had a properly studded 6.4 ever blow a gasket back out.

It for sure looked like it came out of the cap. It was enough to be on the hood, and a good bit down on the frame rail.

A cracked radiator or reservoir wouldn't pressurize it all back through the cap would it? Should be another leak?

Elite did all the work. So I feel confident in saying the work was done properly.

I have to assume its a new cooler. I've only owned the truck about 3wks and the entire build from the long block to trans only has about 7K miles on it.

How high was the coolant filed? I have always had puking problems if the level isn't 1 inch below the fill line

I'm in the same boat. I need to keep my cold coolant level at the lower line on the degas bottle or else it will puke. As long as its at that lower line, all is good.

I did not add any coolant to it since I have owned it. I know that it was not quite to the cold fill mark, maybe not an inch below, but not above it.

I took the truck back out this morning and watched ects. It never got above 200 there. Eots stayed around the same level, but I didn't run it quite as hard as last night or as far.

You guys were are having to keep it below the cold line even studded and deleted?
