Correct, cut 2" from the front or so, just including the front cross member. Then cut a chunk out and weld it back together. I'll loose the fill door which will be nice also

Alright I finally have a moment to get this build up to date. Things have really come together in the last few weeks! Been some late nights but its worth it now.
lots of pics to follow here:

cleaned the frame up nice, was able to cut and reflare the factory brake line and weld the mount back on, ran new fuel lines and routed the wiring harness.

And also boxed a good section of the frame where it was welded, nice and solid now

with the chassis pretty much done we moved on to the box, cut 15 1/2" out in front of the rear tires (tightened up the box to cab gap a bit, turned out very nice)
Dropped the box on the chassis, then the front of the box and tacked it all together.

once it was tacked together the box came back off and was welded solid

I took this opportunity do something i haven't seen on our trucks before, since the box rail caps weren't going to fit any more. I decided to cut some strips of steel and smooth the rails. really happy with the result

after a good amount of bodywork we were finally able to wrap it all, Turned out exactly how i hoped.
nice to finally see it all put together and looking proper

with the bed mounted we moved on to other things, got the stack hole re- cut (for track use), got the bottle mounted and feed line run, and got the trans cooler mounted on the side of the inner bed. we cut a square out of the side of the bed behind the cooler so there will be lots of airflow available while keeping it tucked away.

got the nitrous controller mounted up and wired, made a solenoid bracket and got a couple bungs welded on the intercooler pipe and buttoned everything up

still need to plumb the trans cooler in, clean up the holes in the bed and a few other little things

Things over the axels are 2" air bump stops from the off road world. without notching the frame there really isn't enough room to have any bump stops when its lowered this much... and it hurt when it bottomed out lol. this way i can control how hard the bumpstops engage with air psi and have 3 full inches of travel out back before truly bottoming... had them sitting around from another project so i thought id give them a shot

Congrats. I can't imagine how many hours you have in fab work, but it turned out great. Very nice choice on the rims. I still appreciate chrome rims and they match the truck's look perfectly.

Thanks guys, it's been quite the project so far with lots of ups and downs, planning to put lots of miles on it this year and enjoy.. Definitely hoping to run some solid times down the track but don't need to break any records, just after the seat time

Quick update, the weather finally turned around up here this weekend and i was able to put a couple hundred kms on it. Man this thing is fun!, drivetrain is super happy and runs very cool. without the fans on (haven't needed them) ect sits around 180, trans is at 170. played with the gate and brought boost up to 48 max psi (66 bp) and i can barely break 1250 egts wot. cruising temps around 550.
This is the second round of tunes from gearhead and he did a great job. zero haze at idle with the 60%'s and damn near smoke free unless your trying. Spool up is instant. I know he pulled some fuel out and this thing has great street manors which is exactly what i asked for, Ill talk to him about a big tune next with the fuel turned up so its ready for spray.

other thing is ride quality and weight transfer. The back end rides WAY softer and actually travels now. excited to see if it will hook under some boost now. Was going to try for Rudys but don't think its in the cards so TS will be the first event.

heres the only pic i took ( i know the front plate looks like shi#t, haven't had time to make a bumper bracket yet lol)
