I'm gonna disagree on the only gain is quicker shifts.
Would you agree that it isn't physically stronger?
That's the biggest thing when you're racing a crew cab truck with over 1000 hp

It's all good. What has worked best for us on our truck has been the 48. 4r 100 is still one hell of a trans and I am not taking anything away from it

Clutches live longer with quicker shifts. The only thing you gain by switching from a 5r to a 4r is quicker shifts, the 4r swaps work well in lighter trucks.. Shafts aren't any stronger than the 5r.
5r's have gotten so good that the 4r swap isn't want it once was.
48 is king
How much stronger are the shafts in a 48?
I'm torn between the 48 and 4R. Do I need a pcs with the full manual valve body Mike. Can MPD get me everything to go with a fire punk 48 manual vb?

What makes the 48 so much better then a 4r100?

Yeah, years of cummins making well over 1000 hp forced the aftermarket to come up with a trans that could hold it
Can we start another thread for this. I wanna jump in but not here.
It's really the oversized shafts that make it what it is, right? That and manual valve body option....
