engine/tranny pull?

Is it possible to pull the engine and trans/transfer case at once,,, out the front?

Nah.. Use ratchet strap frame to frame under trans mission and remove the bellhousing bolts and torque converter nuts. Easy as pie.

Mine is a 5 speed/ standard

Yea that's all I ever do is use ratchet straps to support trans when pulling engine. Unless manual trans

I had an absolute hell of a time re installing the engine/trans in my 97. I think we ended up having to have the motor loose and tilted way back and trans tilted as well to get the input shaft in the clutch splines. Not a fun job at all.

I don’t plan to rotate the engine at all while it’s out.
I also won’t be moving the shaft on the transmission either.

So theoretically it should slide right in.

Even if I do have to rotate the shaft slightly,
Isn’t that easier than dropping the transmission and transfer case?

Not disagreeing with what you’re saying I’m just trying to understand if it is doable.

I saw a guy on the YouTube
And what he did to put the transmission/transfer case in was,

Take two longer pieces of 1/2-13 all thread and cut a slot in the end for a screwdriver.

So when you put these two pieces in the bolt holes/they serve as dowel pins
To help with the alignment.

Seemed like a pretty cool idea.

As easy as the trans and t case is to pull, I’d just pull them. If you have all the tools ready to go you can have them out in under an hour.

If there is no reason to remove the trans… why would you?
My complete front clip is out

Pull up/forward/ out

Why make more work?

Its just easier and faster for me with lining everything back up properly. There’s not a right or wrong way, just what each person likes.

Although it doesn’t seem to be the popular approach
I just can’t bring myself to drop the transfer case and transmission for no good reason.

And if I can leave the clutch on the transmission when I pull the motor

That seems like, all the better.

I have the nose off anyway to replace rusted parts etc.

So… yeah.

So pull it your way, guys here were giving you input on how they do it to make it easier. The engine is heavy coupled with a heavy trans + tcase that’s long as a small car I believe you will run into issues getting it out but it will come out as you intend it too. If you were that torn down I’d lift the cab off. Please video you pulling it so we can all see it.
