Alright, simple question, do you even try removing these? Or just torch em off behind the manifold? Leaving enough to get an easy out on them? I have been soaking them in pb.blaster and heating them. Ill take a.breaker bar once in a while and try to jostle them in an attempt to break the head free from the manifold body. Ive NEVER had these off so they are rusted to heavens.

I get the feeling its going to be a war of attrition.....

who put studs in your manifolds? be a good concept if they didnt rust any and would be easily replaceable.

I just had an issue with the middle one on each side, cut the head off and it'll come out easy. They get stuck in the manifold itself not the threads in the head, at least that is the experience from mine and a few others.

Wish I had that issue, I broke and impact socket with a ratchet before i cut the bolt in 2 and removed the piece in the head by hand

This is what I feared. Mine appear to be rusted solidly to themanifold. Ive sprayed them with pb blaster several times and as I stated ive been using a 28" 1/2" breaker bar trying to break em loose. My manifolds arent flaky with rust but they have been kept hot. Ill keep on em. Im worried about breaking a bolt off in the head. That would be no bueno, lol.

My goal is to remove them, clean em up, hit em with some 2k deg Rustoleum and not see rust for a while. Thanks for the input guys.

What color loctite do you all use?

We also had an issue with getting a set back on, the same hole the bolt wouldn't come out of we couldnt get to go back in with new bolts. So unless it has to come off or you are doing headers i wouldnt pull them.

My broken bolts came right off with vice grips. But then again my engine was on a stand.

Go back with stainless bolts and lock washers. Along with some kind of anti seize. I believe they are M10x60? Im not certain. But they are less than $30. Cheap and easy insurance. I would also look into getting them ceramic coated.

Sounds like the right size.

And with the right hook-ups, you can get em for under $8.

If the truck is drivable, take a spin for 10 minutes. Park it and try the breaker bar again. I have had better luck with the WD40 than PB.
