Have 13k on the truck. Ran motorcraft 15w40 till 10k no tick. Now have 3k on mobile 1 5w40 and had it tick once for a sec and hasn't since. Will be using BG oil or LE next go around.

Bumping this thread....

So, on my way out to my in-laws yesterday with about 3800km (2375miles) on this oil change I stopped at a fuel station to refuel the truck and get some more snacks/drinks. To my surprise, the truck was ticking away, like it use to while running Rotella T6. I was a little mad at that but oh well the trip must go on. Now while at my in-laws, about 4500km (2800miles) on the oil change at the truck was quiet again... I don't know what's going on but I'll be searching for a different oil to try out for my next oil change...

And I thought I found the one...:cursing:

I feel your pain. I just gave the "secret squirrel" Motorcraft XL-17 a try on this oil change. Still ticking. 😡😡😡😡😡😡

^ That is very true. Plus it drives me nuts going through a drive through hearing the tick echo.

Bumping this one again. After 5300 miles with the Amsoil 5w30 I decided it was time for an oil change. Found a good deal on Rotella T6 0w40. After the oil change, fired the truck up, and it almost sounded like the truck was running smoother, and no tick!! So after about a 500 mile trip home from a buddies bachelor party, left the truck idling while I ran into the store and sure enough, it's ticking again!! But for the price I paid for the Rotella vs the Amsoil, I think I'm willing to let it tick... I'll check back in after some more mileage on the oil to see if it quits ticking...

Running 10W30 Amsoil synthetic right now and haven't had the tick since I changed the oil. Amsoil guy recommended the 10W-30 over the 5W30 for whatever reason....
