I don't. See a puncture(hole). I see where the clamp compacted the cast iron a bit. The only thing that would worry me is it being so close to the valve.

dont have the time or money to do that, with the motor n trans not belonging in the truck to begin with

Well you can't very well drive the truck around with a dead miss. You have to remove the motor to replace the piston, and if you have damage to the cylinder wall then you will need machine work.

Is the piston cracked???? The head would not scare me as bad as the piston.. There could be alight hair line crack on the piston that will go out in time.. just never know how long it will last..

I would change the piston. check the valves like had been stated. Then make sure the head is not cracked. if it is not, Clean it up and put it back on with a NEW head Gasket..

outer side of the piston is all scratched up, then where there is a giant gash in the piston where the hose clamp was, hose clamp is still embedded in the piston, yes gonna have the valves checked, the head doesn't looks cracked, and is not really bashed like the piston is

Can you pull the oil pan with the engine in chassis and have enough room to unbolt the rod? You know your space constraints better than anyone here. Again, are you sure that you didn't screw up the cylinder walls? Won't do you any good to put a good piston in a bad bore.

Piston must be replaced. No it cannot be replaced with the motor in the truck.

you can pull the pan IF you lift the engine about 6 inches.. But you still neeed to pull the engine to get the crank out and the front cover off.. So it would need to be pulled.

Good point on the cylinder wall.. Make sure that is good to! I would change the piston for sure.. I would be almost 100% sure that the piston has a faint hair line crack on the side right were the clamp is..

You might be able to. It would be faster to pop the motor though. I would not do it in chassis.

that's the thing, i don't have the money or equipment to pull the motor in this thing, had the motor put it in by someone else so i don't know the headache it was doing it

your stuck, you need to pull that motor, so it makes more sense to throw a junkyard motor in than try to fix this one. You may find that pulling the motor will actually be easier than pulling that head in chassis like you already have. The only other thing you could do is file down the head, pull the steel out of the piston and run it 'till she blows, because she will definitely blow! Do the motor swap now or in as few as a 100 miles, up to you.

it'd be more a pain in the ass to lift it up in the engine bay several inches to get the pan off then it would to pull the whole thing. Find a lift to borrow or bite the bullet and buy one. That simple.
