Throwing them in 4lo and drive? Or 3rd? Ive never pulled let alone with these crazy 5r's. Give me some tips lol. Mods are MPD 5r110, 472 single, 60% nozzles, RCD CP3 kit (will be running the fuel by pulling season), RCD springs and push rods, IH pistons. Whats the deal with converters should I try to get IDP to custom build it where it stays locked or what? I hate being a rookie lol. I'm also running rancho 9000xl all the way around and traction bars.

Do you have dual shock on both front corners? It will stop the wheel hop. What about suspension stop stops? If you have the power take 3rd low....never high side it breaks **** :badidea:

Single shocks are gonna let your radius arm shake bad down towards the end of your pull. Mount a good shock behind the factory ones. Its either that or a 4-link set up to get rid of the wheel hop that our trucks have in stock form.

I'm not a puller but hope to be some day.. From what I understand there is a whole heck of alot more than making power to have a good pulling truck just some suggestions from what I've read...

1. Dual shocks, 4 link or OUO Bars up front to control wheel hop. As soon as it starts bouncing you'll have to get out of it anyway
2. Suspension stops and traction bars in the rear. Fairly cheap Nd easy to do.. Get adjustable ones incase the classes have different minimum suspension travel.
3. Hitch height And length. - get it as high and tight to the truck as freakin possible while still making tech.
4. Finally gear is going to depend on the truck... Seems like 1high or 3low has been what most are going for... Might take a run or two to make sure you can stay up on the charger and keep wheel speed up.

I'm just a keyboard puller at this moment tho so I might be way off haha! Good luck man! Get some videos of that single screaming!

If you have 3.73 gears 3rd low will be way to slow. 1 high ftw. You can only run 3rd low if you have 3.55 gears and be competitive. Most of the trucks I setup that have a 5r I go with 4.10 and run 1st high. That makes for 12.7 final reduction. And the 3.73 is 11.5 final. 3rd low and 3.55 is 14.9 final. 11.5 is pretty steep unless you have big hp. I would reccomend smaller tires like 32-33" for the 11.5 final.

And I reccomend the dual shocks unless you want to spend more money. Just a hint, you still need to have good shocks even with the 4-link because they will still hop. It's all in the shocks, the radius arms work fine. I'm using stock radius arms on my 2.6 fully built pulling truck.

My truck makes gobs of torque early so I can play with it. My favorite set up so far is 36" Tires, 4.10's, 4 Hi, First Gear, Converter Lock Up Commanded @ 18MPH Wheel Speed
