After I get some electronic misc figured I hope to get some more wheel time. Big drop in egts, doesn't sound different, spools fine, and it'll move.

Edit- I will dyno in the next month like so unless I score a 59mm before hand.

Thanks. What kind of EBPs do you see at WOT?

Good to know. Other than Riverside with a 59, this is the only other truck on stock fuel I have read about. Are you gated and what kind of EBP do you see at WOT (especially since you are on the stock VGT)?

Not the only truck anymore. Lol. I'm running stock fuel on my truck. Be out if the shop in a week and I'll post all kinda updates and figure both off the dyno and the track

The vgt controls the spool up. The vgt is what spools of the line not the atmo. A stock vgt is going to spool like a stock vgt, no matter what atmo you have (within reason). The atmo will come in after you've already made boost off the line with the vgt.

I don't know of any brand or size drop in factory housing compounds that don't spool well enough to drive and tow like a factory truck. Fwiw. May suffer a small amount of low end with a 59mm but it's not very noticeable at all.

Okay, i was thinking a little backwards. So i don't really see why anyone would not go with the biggest atmo.. well in my opinion at least.

If you prefer to have less power and higher EGTs, the stocker is an excellent choice IMHO.

It's fun, it hits good, it's cool, and looks/sounds like nothing crazy. I've hammered on it few times but I haven't payed attention to EBP close lol. I'm not gated and won't unless I add fuel. If it goes I'll park it in garage and fix it. The biggest difference again is the fact I have a stock transmission and convertor that locks unlocks locks etc. that I need to do something with. I've got half stashed now and might be close after another side project.

you trying to be funny? he was supporting going with the biggest atmo charger.

In these parts as well as some other locations, we have something we like to call sarcasm... which can be associated with humor....but one of the big detractors from that form of humor is if you have ask.....
In any case, his response was in reference to Morgan's comments (who said an atmo within reason) so I assumed he understood an 88 atmo might not be the best choice for stock fuel/stock VGT. His opinion is one that many people would agree with. Since any healthy debate should have a counter arguement, I tried my best and that was all I could come up with for sticking with a stocker.

I am on stock fuel, stock vgt with elites 72 and I can easily hit 73 psi Ebp without a waste gate.

73 displayed on the mini max. I think it already subtracts?

I'm running an older version of the hd300 tune, probably almost 1 1/2 years old. Think the newer tuning would make a difference?

The mini already subtracts baro pressure. So if its 73 that's maxing out the sensor. My truck will peg the sensor at 87 on the dashdaq which doesn't subtract baro.

I would think so, mini maxx subtracts for you.

Custom tuning is your friend imo for anything passed stock

Something to think about: last night I helped a guy dial in his waste gate which he needed on stock fuel. His mods include no limit intake & IC piping, head studs, conventional Gearhead race tuning, 4" turbo back exhaust, precision waste gate, 71 mm atmo, and stock vgt. At max effort, the truck would peg the ebp sensor at 86 absolute. Baro is 12.5 where we were, so 73.5 is where it stopped reading. With a few turns of the regulator, we set it to peak at 68, and settle down to 65 max, with peak boost hovering at 52. On the contrary, when I had 15% over nozzles and twin pumps pushing a 59/72.4 mm combo on my truck, I left the gate shut because back pressure was still under control. The main difference between the set-ups is that the larger turbine wheel on the 59 mm vgt allows for a lot more flow, despite being driven harder.

very good point Wayne, without the larger turbine in the atmo back-pressure can get out of hand.
