Well, after looking all over, found my self a 6.4 that i really like!

Anyways, Im still a little sketchy as to what to look out for when I go up for a test drive next weekend.....Ive had way too many Cummins powered trucks, but never had a 6.4.

Here are some specs on the truck....

2008 F350 FX4
Black on Black
Only option it doesnt have is Back up camera and Sun Roof
150,000mi but has been deleted since 96K (all highway miles)
Good maintenance history from this owner, nothing major so far, just simple maintenance things.

Guys says his friend works for Ford in Detroit and programmed the computer himself to disable all the Regen stuff......Didnt know they can do that, so it technically doesnt have a programmer.....

Only thing the truck needs is a new set of tires (but that is something I was going to change anyway)

Here a look.......

Other than the basic noises and smoke to look for, what else is there???? I know I wont be able to look at the rockers........

Also, can anyone do a OASIS??? My dealership will not do one unless you are a customer.......

VIN is
1FTWW31R38EB70424

Any help would be awesome!!!!!

If its got a Ford "no-smog gear calibration" it's going to be pretty soft on power.

Won't smoke hardly at all though. The more you hammer the throttle from a dead stop the more it dials the power back to keep the pipe as clean as it can.

I'd look over the front end, as I see a plow mount...

Plow is no longer on it, but he does has a dealer recipt for them going through the entire front end this summer. He just used the plow for his own drive way, so it didnt get beat up much.....

There was only three things on the Oasis and nothing is major.

Thank you! Makes me feel a whole ot better about the truck, and I owe ya one big time!!!!!

He says its some "Special ECM and TCM programming" that a buddie of his does that works for Ford Corporate. I call schannigins, but its probably just a quick tune. But a good programmer will replace it very soon no matter what it is!!!!

Nice truck Jeff!

Thanks! Got tired of dodges, and have always liked 6.4's so Im going to jump on it!!!

So Hes asking $23K, i think thats fair and most trucks like it are going for close to 30k around here!!!!! As long as nothing is too out of wack when I go test drive it, Ill be driving it home!!!!

If oasis does not show a new short block in it's history, set aside $10k for one. Only a few make it over 150k -165k miles before needing a new engine.

And that's a $20k truck at best.

Just got home from picking it up...... All I have to say is why have I been wasting my time in all those Dodges??????

I'm really going to like this truck!!!!

And it sure as hack doesn't have the detuned emission delete programming on it! But after wheels/tires and a few look good oats, I'm going with a programmer anyway.

Good to hear, because you'd have been real dissapointed with the truck if it did :)

Glad you're enjoying it. Find out more info about what tune/file is in it before you flash it again, you need to be able to return to the tune you have in it now, or something similar should you ever need to go back to stock.

Did you get a tuner/programmer/box with it?

My bad. Mostly 08 trucks.

Had a customer with a 2009 a couple years ago that was whacking miles on in a hurry (bought it in January was out of 36k basic by march). Didn't have much in the way of base engine problems, but the rest of the truck was quite problematic.

I have the number of the guy that "Wrote the Tune" for what the PO said, he writes tunes for Spartan and i will call him before I touch anything.....So who knows.... I like the tune ok, but I know its a milder tune, and with out guages i dont want to go too crazy with it.

But for now it needs tires BAD and might as well up grade!!!! I think some Black/Machined 20x12's should set it off quite nice :D
