Well , your right it's a semi-synthetic. And I put it in at 40,000 miles. And so far in 2,000 miles no tick. At all.

That is good to hear. In some cases (depends on the oil) Para-Synthetic oil is better then Full Synthetic oil. They take the best of both worlds and put them together. I have a Chart by a company that explains how and why Para-Synthetic is better the Full Synthetic.

5k changes here on Mobil 1 5W40 synthetic. Occasional tick during extended idle times. Sounds like lifter tick to me.

OK Hear is what one company says about Parasynthetic oil.

Now This is just from ONE oil maker. This ONLY covers their product. Their Oil also has Other improvement's to. Other then just Synthetic and conventional oil.

The Oil Maker here is Conklin. BUT the stuff they say about the Synthetic and conventional oil Mixed should be the same for all makers.

Conventional base oils offer improved natural seal protection, preventing leaks and improving solubility to keep your engine’s internals clean and mediate the price.

Synthetic base oils provide oil with lower volatility, high and low temperature protection.

This is just a couple of the benefits of both oils. Now Conklin uses a POA Synthetic Oil to.
Polyalphaolefin (PAO) in motor oil provides greater oxidative stability, further reducing volatility, enhance
high and low temperature fluidity and a higher viscosity index. PAO synthetic oils also have the ability to
both absorb and dissipate heat better than conventional base oil, extending the life of the oil.

And a friction reducer.
Part of Convoy’s balanced additive package includes Molybdenum (moly), a friction modifier. It’s
presence in Convoy motor oil helps to lower the coefficient of friction in your engines beyond what
a non-moly oil provides, thus reducing friction and wear while extending the life of your vehicles
and equipment.

Now that cover what is in the oil. Now we will move on to see what they say about the benefits.

To start with POA Oil.

Greater Oxidative Stability
PAOs offer increased stability in the presence of oxygen and greater resistance to oxidation. PAOs are used in lubricants and other applications where the resistance to oxidation and the response to additives are important. This is especially true in applications, including automotive, compressor or other industrial lubricants, where extended drain intervals require the base oil to be more stable in the presence of oxygen. These superior qualities are a result of PAOs being free of impurities, unlike conventional mineral oils with heterocyclic and sulfur-containing molecules that compete with antioxidants to reduce the overall oxidative stability. PAOs are traditionally known and used for their “problem solving” abilities. That’s because poly alpha olefins are impurity-free and contain only well-defined hydrocarbon molecules with specific performance properties. PAOs are made from an intentional process for targeted performance properties.

Reduced Volatility
One of the key benefits of PAOs is that their lower volatility means there is less oil loss in high-temperature conditions. This results in lower oil consumption and fewer emissions, two valuable benefits in many applications. PAOs are also ideally suited for applications with lower oil sump volumes or high operating temperatures.

Low-Temperature Fluidity
The excellent low-temperature properties of PAOs provide increased protection and fluidity. PAOs offer both low pour points and low viscosity properties that make cold-weather starting easier by reducing strain on engine parts, batteries and starter motors. During engine start-up, lower viscosities allow the lubricant to flow and lubricate the necessary parts of an engine.

High Viscosity Index
PAOs have inherently high viscosity indexes (VI) while maintaining excellent low-temperature performance. Both properties are critical in protecting engines at temperature extremes. Low temperatures can rob a lubricant of its ability to reach critical parts, while high temperatures can thin and break down engine oil, crippling its lubricating ability. Because PAOs are synthesized molecules, they don’t contain components that might adversely affect their desired properties. As a result, PAOs require fewer viscosity index (VI) improvers and are less likely to create performance-limiting deposits.

And That's all Guys for the Conklin oil. I can not get the information chart to keep work. Sorry! if I can get it to work I will post it up.

I wish i could get it to work! They explain how and Why it is better. But when you look at the benefits of both Synthetic and conventional you get a idea of why They say ParaSynthetic is better.

Here is what Rotella says about the T5

Here is a link that also shows tests they did with the T5

http://s06.static-shell.com/content...rotella/downloads/pdf/rotella-t5-brochure.pdf

Shell Rotella® T5 Synthetic Blend Heavy Duty Engine Oil combines synthetic blend base oils and advanced additives to deliver excellent protection, even at low temperatures where the enhanced cold-flow properties help protect your engine. Shell Rotella® T5 is formulated and designed to energize the oil's performance and provides fuel economy benefits*, improved low-temperature flow, and delivers an advanced "Low-SAPS" formulation which helps control the blocking or poisoning of exhaust after-treatment devices.

LEADERSHIP

Shell Rotella® T5 Synthetic Blend Technology is an innovative heavy duty engine oil designed to deliver fuel-economy savings, extended-drain capability, enhanced engine cleanliness, and excellent wear protection.

Shell Lubricants is one of the first companies to offer synthetic blend SAE 10W-30 and SAE 10W-40 viscosity grade products that meet some of the most stringent heavy duty engine oil specifications globally, such as API CJ-4, ACEA E9, and Volvo VDS-4. Shell Lubricants is committed to being the technical leader in heavy duty engine-oil-product innovation.

FUEL ECONOMY BENEFITS

Shell Lubricants continues to be a leader in the development of fuel-economy-lubricants. In 2009, we conducted a large-scale trial of medium-duty trucks based on city and highway driving patterns.

Shell Rotella® T5 demonstrated fuel-economy savings of up to 1.6% in 2009 on-the-road field testing in medium-duty trucks. (For 10W-30 viscosity-grade-only, highway cycles, compared to Shell Rotella® Triple Protection® 15W-40.) These fuel-economy savings can help lower operation-and-maintenance costs.

MAINTENANCE SAVINGS

Shell Rotella® T5 provides protection against acid buildup that can contribute to corrosive wear, as demonstrated through TAN (Total Acid Number) increase and lead corrosion in several industry-standard engine tests. By controlling TAN increase, Shell Rotella® T5 can help equipment owners optimize oil-drain intervals. Low-Temperature Performance

At lower temperatures, using Shell Rotella® T5 10W-30 or 10W-40 can help your engine start more easily than using a 15W-40 viscosity-grade product. Shell Rotella® T5 10W-30 or 10W-40 can help protect the durability of the starter and battery during harsh winter climates. (Anti-idling laws in some states force more usage of Auxiliary Power Units and shutting engines off.)

WEAR PROTECTION

Shell Rotella® T5 Synthetic Blend Technology Heavy Duty Engine Oil provides excellent wear control, particularly in preventing bore polish in the cylinder liners. Bore polish in the cylinder liners can result in a loss of fine manufactured honing lines, which can lead to excessive liner wear and an increase in oil consumption.

Control of bore polish is measured through the stringent Mercedes OM611LA, OM646LA, OM501LA, and Volvo D-12D engine tests. Shell Rotella® T5 does an excellent job controlling bore polish in these engine tests.

Shell Rotella® T5 provides better low-temperature flow than conventional SAE 15W-40 oil.

CLEANLINESS AND DEPOSIT CONTROL

Shell Rotella® T5 provides exceptional piston cleanliness and sludge control, exceeding the MB 228.51 requirements in the demanding OM 611LA, OM 501LA and OM 646LA engine tests.

This is what Schaffers says about ParaSynthetic Oil.

Q. What is "Synthetic Plus Technology" oil?
A. A blend of 100% pure parraffin base oils PLUS the finest PAO synthetic base stocks with the best synthetic base stocks.

Q. What advantage does it have over commercial grade oils?
A. Most commercial grade oils begin breaking down at 170ºF. Today's engine thermostats are set at 200ºF+. This can cause oil consumption and thermal breakdown. SUPREME 7000™ stands a higher heat range than commercial grade oils (up to 250º more). The result is less oil consumption and longer oil life.

Q. What about warranty?
A. SUPREME 7000™ exceeds the warranty requirements of all engine manufacturers, including Cummins, Cat, Detroit Diesel. PowerGuard 93K218K and Mack EO-O Premium Plus-07 specs as well as all car makers' specs.

New Emission Regulations
Since January 1994, all new engines are designed to provide low emissions. These design changes resulted in an increase in the soot particles going into the engine oil instead of out the stack. With the introduction of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) engines in 2004, even more soot reaches the engine oil. This results in higher soot related wear and increases in the engines oil's viscosity due to soot thickening. These low emission engines run hotter, too. All of this results in more stress on the engine oil.

The synthetic portion and proprietary detergent and dispersant chemistry provide a Margin of Safety that significantly improves SUPREME 7000™'s ability to disperse soot. It gives greater protection against abrasive soot wear, viscosity thickening and deposits. This oil also handles temperatures over 450ºF without breaking down.

Eliminates Start-Up Wear

When is the toughest time on your engine?
At start-up, because your oil's in the pan, not in the engine. So, when you start your engine, metal grinds against metal. And in those first 60 seconds, engineers estimate that 80% of your engine wear takes place.

SUPREME 7000™ does what no other oil can. It protects your engine even when the oil isn't there. SUPREME 7000™ incorporates two proven friction fighters, Micron Moly® and Penetro®, that plate to the internal parts of your engine and protect it against start-up wear.

Saves Fuel

What would a 3%-5% fuel savings mean to you? That's the average fuel savings gained from SUPREME 7000™ in fleet tests. (Test results available upon request.)

Friction not only causes wear, it also robs you of fuel economy. SUPREME 7000™ fights friction in three ways - with para-synthetic base stocks, Micron Moly® and Penetro®.

Faster Starts

In cold weather, conventional oil becomes thicker. Engines won't start, batteries drain down, engine parts grind together. But not with SUPREME 7000™. Thanks to its unique synthetic blend, it flows when other oils won't. That means you'll enjoy faster starts even at -25ºF. And because it's a synthetic blend, SUPREME 7000™ gets to critical engine parts fast - up to 10 times faster than conventional oils.

This one lost a wrist pin bushing at 80,000 and another customers dropped a valve at 30,000. Still a lot better than 6.4s or 6.0s!
