I found the weak link with spun axle tubes back in 09 with only 10k miles on the truck. Fun times.

ummm no.

welding the axle tubes to the differential case is for high torque applications that run the risk of breaking the weak factory tack welds and twisting the pinion up thru the bottom of the box.

I think it is pretty safe to say this build would be considered a "high torque application"

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I knew right where it was being welding I though ford would have welded that from the factory good but I guess there is always room for improvement.

Yep, they only get a couple of plug welds when they are built.

Trans is done. Front main is done. Hit a few hiccups with parts for the convertor. Won't be able to have one until Friday. Craig has one that's close to what I need so I'm going to talk with Phil and Craig and come up with a plan. I know the one Craig has will work great for me in Michigan. But at altitude I'm just not sure. I'll make the call shortly after I speak with both of them. I also got a few boxes yesterday. Haven't opened them but this is what's inside.

Nice! I think I'm in the wrong profession! I can't afford these kind of toys:ford:

Neither can I. The race sled is up for sale!! Fresh top end that I haven't even put miles on.

On a good note I will have a DPC convertor from MPD tomorrow. Thank you to Craig and Greg!! Mike D. and Phil at DPC are still working on one for me and will know around noon if he can get me one by Friday as well. Morgan is working his ass off as well trying some different avenues. Appreciate all the help guys.

Glad to see it all coming together. There's no way I would have made it through all that mayhem! Bet it's a blast to drive

Glad it's coming along Ryan. I'm looking forward to hear how many feet this thing puts on 2nd place in the sled pull.
