For the guys saying go to a raptor, would you be willing to pay 50k plus for a ccsb raptor? I wouldn't. I initially had a deposit on a 2010 raptor before they hit the lot. The dealer and I had worked out a price on which I agreed on. Once the truck had be delivered to the lot they could not honor the price we agreed on for reasons which I do not know. Needless to say I'd much rather have a newer super duty over a raptor. IMO it's still an f150 in the end and not worth that kind of money.

The Raptors are outrageously priced, but it is a very capable truck. I've seen those trucks take some serious beatings in the dunes. But for those that don't go off road much; complete waste of money.

Side note: I saw an Ecoboost Raptor on YouTube the other day... That's just plain awesome.

I love the raptors but no way would I be beating the balls off a truck like that. Ill build another offroad rig for 1/8 the price lol

It's to bad they don't get the advertised mileage because i'm looking for something to do 100 miles a day in or so... The problem in Houston is, if your not doing 75 your fixin to get run over!

So there are some good mods out there for the Ecoboosts???

Back to the OPs original question though... I'd bullet proof the motor and run an aggresive street tune. If your REALLY worried about mileage this and that... set the truck back down and put some 33s on it. I'm sure that will help too... It's hard to be upset with something going wrong when your pushing over 600hp but thats just my opinion! I went through my stock tranny and 2 others until Elite got me fixed right (talkin $20K total)...now don't run more than a street tune because it does everything I need it to and the chit is expensive!

I miss that. Bumper to bumper traffic on 610 or 290 doing 80mph.

Any half ton truck isn't a truck at all to me.. They ride better and have there place.. I looked them over for the he!! of it before I bought my 6.2 and they are nothing but an SUV with a bed IMO.. Very nice looking inside and out but a truck it is not..

A fella just chimed in earlier saying he got 18.1 MPG at 80-90 MPH.

Yes, the Ecoboosts already have a pretty large mod base out. With just a tune, they are pretty quick little trucks.

They definitely have their place, but I believe they are pretty tough and capable trucks. They have weight ratings and I have seen people do things with them that they shouldn't, but the truck survived. My dad used to pull a gooseneck horse trailer with his 96 f150 and the little 5.0 did surprisingly well. He has a cclb
ower stroke now though.
I would love to daily drive one, but I still like the toughness of the superduty. If I didn't tow so heavy with a tri axle gooseneck from time to time, I would downsize for the comfort.

Ya.. I had a 97,98,2000 and 2006 F-150 and they did most things pretty well but when I look under the F-250, I see capability far beyond any half ton for the same money.. That's just me.. There are lots of people that don't need to push a 9.5 V-plow, or pull a 20ft equipment trailer and that is why they sell lots them and that's cool, there just not for me..

I hear ya, I dd a car aswell. It would be nice to maintain one vehicle though. Heck, sometimes I have 4 vehicles in the driveway that I maintain, and my wife and I are the only licensed drivers in the household.

Oh, im there with ya! Two years ago we had a 2000 superduty, a 02 expedition, a 07 explorer, a 02 lincoln ls, an 04 ls, a 95 eclipse gsx, and a 05 grand prix...

We have a 06 monterey, a 02 lincoln ls, my 2k(since new), 95 gsx(since new), and a 69 bronco with a 302 4spd. For two drivers.
