The biggest problem they have is people putting DEF in the fuel tank...

which i could see this or gasoline being very hard to prove what they did, most common rail systems should not fail, but im sure ford will try to deny warranty for whatever reason but personally i would fight the *** out of it and make them PROVE what actually caused it. IDS will show you how many key cycles, miles ect with the water in fuel light on, if its never been on how can they say anything about it? and blaming aftermarket fuel tanks is silly, unless they can prove that the inside of the tank is rusted, coating is coming out ect, and even then the filter should catch that. Thats why its there

this may be a "dumb down" solution, but if people are so concerned about water in the fuel, why not just run fuel additive in every tank? I've been doing this since day one, 215k miles later ive never had a water problem? I fuel out of on site storage tanks on our jobsites, and also have a 40 gallon RDS in-bed tank I store some fuel in for longer road trips. every tank has always been treated with power service and I drain once a month. just food for thought.

You have 215k on a 6.7?

Lol. Not sure what I was typing there... guess I've never heard of any of the other platforms having issues of denied warranty cuz of water in the fuel system even if the water in fuel light came on or if there was never any water that actually drained from the separator when it was actually drained when it was supposed to. If that makes any sense..

I've just heard of several failures due to "idiots" putting def in the fuel tank because they had no clue or no business being around a diesel truck (mainly fleet applications). And then drive it till it gets straight urea to the hpfp and BOOM, failure. And guess what? No warranty. And I don't blame ford on bit. Yet somehow that dipsh*t that did it runs around blaming the truck and saying ford screwed him and 6.7's are junk. (Internet dumb*ssness in its finest). Makes me wish people had to pass an iq test to be able to own a truck.

I agree, however you have to wonder why they put the fill port there next to the diesel fill tube. I mean they had to know idiots would do that. I kinda figured they would have done it like GM did and moved it away from the diesel fill tube. Granted GMs tank is visibly hideous hanging under the passenger side door.
